"Questions" the Iranian exibit? Boy, Kofi really should get some breast implants since he already resembles a vagina...

The cartoons were submitted after the exhibit's co-sponsor, the Hamshahri newspaper, said it wanted to test the West's tolerance for drawings about the Nazi killing of 6 million Jews in World War II. The entries on display came from nations including United States, Indonesia and Turkey. And has their been even a fraction of the outrage over these cartoons? No, I think not. Do you think Hamshahri will admit that the "West" is more tolerant of free speech now? :laugh4:

Didn't we already conclude that the Israelis won that contest, even before it started, thanks to thier own counter-competition?

Meh our paper had a much better picture: Annan looking angrily at the Iraqi pres and him smiling rather sheepsihly. It was also subtitled :Annan tells whateverhisnameis that he can't deny the holocaust.

Subjective reporting much ? :laugh4:

on both sides people....

The UN is only dangerous because peacedoves can be sucked into jet-engines. Let's threaten them with politily asking again, that will teach those beardnecks.

I do love Iran sometimes....

'How dare you make distasteful cartoons and insult our delicate sensibilities....how should we respond?...I know...in the most typically childish way possible- by holding our own distasteful cartoon competition!!....ha ha ha...that will teach them...havent we taken the moral high ground. :wall: :dizzy2:

It's actually even "better", they have thier own contest to mock a group (the Jews) completly irrelevant to the original matter (Danish cartoon contest).

the UN is a great idea as long as all the countries cooperate, sadly almost all countries dont :skull:

to be fair to Iranian newspaper, they see their cartoons as justified due to the danish ones, although it does seem a bit much :inquisitive:

its not necesserilly the consensus in Iran, just the individual paper....

-Danish private newspaper publishes some cartoons making fun of Mohammed
-Some radical imans travel the middle east provoking outrage over the incident
-Muslims protest in many countries
-British police arrest peaceful counter-protestors to Muslims holding signs threatening violence, who are left unbothered
-Piglet lynched in effigy
-Iranians take the classy route and hold their own 'who can most emulate old Nazi propaganda' contest targeting the Jews

-UN threatens another round of polite asking, with the dire warning of 'or else' if the Iranians don't comply.
-The EU says this is much too harsh, and we should give the Iranians another two weeks to ignore us without any consequences
-People wonder why we made a deadline in the first place

Oh well.

Wonder indeed!

Two weeks after the two weeks have passed-

-EU send bunch of flowers to apologise, even though they are not really sure what they are apologising for... :laugh4:

- Iranian delegate receives flowers and a free umbrella. After noting the pink spiky flowers of the castor bean he gets the obscure hint and apologises.

I think the outrage & Western hypocrisy will be a'coming. Give the story some time to pick up steam. :stupido:

One cartoon by Indonesian Tony Thomdean shows the Statue of Liberty holding a book on the Holocaust in its left hand and giving a Nazi-style salute with the other.

That actually sounds like an extremely poignant cartoon and one which is not even degrading to Jews.
