View Full Version : 0.74 tester needed today

Requirements:

-time on your hands to test something out today
-a good 0.74 EB build (not modded up like crazy ), on a 1.2 RTW build (not a downmodded 1.5 build)
-a good internet connection
-moderately good standing around here (i.e., someone we think we could trust, even only if it's for a day or two)
-better than minimal ability to talk about game files and ability to install a small patch

Supply an email address that could receive an attachment of about a megabyte or two. People who've posted here before and we can consider somewhat reliable (:laugh4:) would be preferred obviously.

eadingas has something he'd like one or two people with 0.74 to test - it's hard for us to do that on the previous build. It's not something massive, but something that would immediately make an impact on your campaign appearance. If a dozen people have already replied by the time you see this, chances are not good that you'll be chosen. :skull: Don't load my or his PM boxes with replies though, this isn't life or death, but if you help us out you'll get to see something cool before the rest of the folks here and we'll thank you in our next preview. :2thumbsup:

And don't worry - if you back up a few of the files we tell you to, there's not going to be a risk of losing a campaign. We're not messing with unit files or your save game or traits or anything like that.

well, if it is somethink not too much "demanding" (since i can mod almost nothink) and there are instructions (give me the book with the istructions and i can raise up the world) i will be very happy to help, let me know...

EDIT: im free tomorrow afternon and in the evening, now it is night here, and im not very lucid, so i think tomorrow it will be very good (if it is ok to let me test that)

Yep, I'm back! YAY! ALRIGHT! WOOT! Yeah....

Now after that extraordinarely awful pun, I would love to test it out. I have a fast computer (Geforce GS 7800 Grpahics card, by the way...), a fast connection. If you do wish to let me be a tester, PM me and I'll give you my MSN E-mail Adress.

Deep Thought will be off line for a few days, you know how FTL internet service is, but I am willing to put the full force of the Magrathean populace behind this.

Being a retired planetary fiord designer I have more free time, (with the exception of the Asia and European Cup qualifiers,) than you can poke a proverbial stick at.

Oh yeah well I'm running a downmodded 1.5 build of EB that has the ULPP installed on it and a whole load of little family name and starting army changes of my own, oh and I'm at work all day beat those credentials! :laugh4:

if by chance you want me, give me a pm, and i'll give you the mail....

Good people all around here. I'm sure we'll have enough here. If eadingas is already asleep, I may try to get the file out to a couple of you guys.

I'm free for the next 5 days because it's my school holidays, so if you would still need testers feel free to PM me for my email. I have a fully unmodded 0.74 build.

I asked for email addresses and nobody supplied one here. Weird. One person sent me theirs in a PM anyway, and I had one other one's from a PM from yesterday on something else, so I sent the file to them. Then I PM'd someone else and got an inbox full message. Pfft.

I've had a couple people test it out, and there are one or two little things we need to change, then you'll probably get a preview with something cool for you. Hopefully it will be pretty quick and you guys who replied here won't have to wait much longer for it anyway.

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for the comments - and thanks to everyone who posted here, even if I wasn't able to send the file out to everyone. I think the main problems weren't even that problematic at this point - maybe we'll get it posted tomorrow.

TA i sent you a pm yesterday, and you got me no answer...so far with the factions i tried, everything seems to be in order...but, if there is anything out of the ordinary we should be aware and at the look out, i don't know, only that thing i reported yesterday, and the deformation issue caused by the 3d engine of rome, wich you say is normal....besides that i haven't found any other bug so far...sorry to post here....

Was the test the new resources that were just previewed? If so great work!

Thanks for your help, everybody. I've fixed some of the more persistant bugs. Unfortunately, can't do anything about the 3d glitches - the resources are laid flat at the level of their upper-left corner, so if the land changes height over the other three corners, they get stuck into it :(
(don't know if that explanation made sense :)
