View Full Version : How do you change that thing?
I have found this very irriating. Above your avatar there are the words:

I have seen some people with it saying things like "EB Faction Coordinator" and others saying "Yay Yay Yay". So how do you change it to sometihng like that or do you have to be a full member?
Oh yes and if you do have to be a member then could you tell me how to get promoted. I am sick of everybody thinking I'm inferior!

Im assuming it has to do with post count or the amount of time you have been here. It's annoying however since I can't post in the forums Id like to.

You can get promoted if you get yourself recognised in a good way.
From the FAQ:
Promotion to Member
Promotion to Member is based on participation, conduct and contributions in your posts. Quantity of posts doesn't matter - you could be promoted on the basis of one amazing post, although just showing the ability to interact with the membership in a helpful and polite manner is easily sufficient. In other words, you don't need to do something special, just enjoy yourself whilst following the Forum Rules above. Introducing yourself (if you have not already done so) in the HAIL New Members! (Introductions) III thread doesn't hurt either!

*Wonders if he could become a senior member in one very amazing post*

What classes as an 'amazing' post to become a senior member is beyond me.

:idea2:
I guess you have notice the User CP link near the top left corner, now click on it then click on Edit Profile, and you'll see a line where you can add your own custom title. Now think of somthing good to put there. Put it. That should do the trick.

Well as Tellos Athenaios mentioned, you can adjust your custom user title.
And don't worry, keep on posting sensible posts - no spam - and you'll get promoted in no time.

I am afraid the option to edit your user title only becomes available once you make it to full member.
Thankyou everybody now I am promoted (horray!) I can change the title thing. Yes!
Congratulations on your promotion, Matthius Julius! ~

That makes at least two of us. ~;) According to Mithrandir, the only reason I was promoted to senior member was so that someone would PM him once in a while.... :laugh4:

The truth is junior members often get promoted in batches whenever the admin feels like it, so if you have made a couple of posts and/or checked the org regularly, you should get your membership pretty quickly. Junior membership is meant as an 'introduction to the org' so you can get a feel of the place and the community and possibly, to stop people from just signing on for the tavern...

It's a title for people who have made 'significant contributions to the community', a lot of modders get the title it seems, as well as ex moderators, although senior members often become moderators too, I'm not sure what usually comes first.

That has to be true. To the best of my knowledge, I've never posted anything here of any value.
I love the site, read alot here, have learned alot but aint added much to it.

Yes it certainly seems that way.
From personal experience, I believe I posted five times and got promoted. Checked back a few months and realised whoa I'd been promoted.
Congrats for your promotion Matthius Julius :balloon3:

Same here, I just offered a truckload of money - it worked.
Obviously camel food is very expensive.

Well, an amazing post is a post that's, well, amazing.
Hm, now that was a noticable contribution, isn't it?
Can I have my senior membership now?
Thanks in advance :2thumbsup:
Hello Dogon,
Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community in our Introductions forum.

Well, neither seniors which posted in this thread have helped work on a mod (as far as I know), but have always replied in a civil, helpful way in the Main Hall (and other fora I presume).
so that should be some guideline on both membership and senior membership ~:).

to stop people from just signing on for the tavern...Probably. It's the same as how you can't see the Backroom if you aren't signed up. The org simply doesn't need political flamers (stereotypes are boring ~;) ) to go and start on a first post Nazi rant or something like that.
That and keeping off spammers and advertisers, though this site suffers from it much less than others.
Junior members don't really have to worry much, though. Unless they're the trolls that inhabited the internet you are practically guaranteed to be promoted by simply being relatively active (say, more than just a one-post wonder) for a while.
Senior membership, on the other hand, is not something easy to come by. And I personally doesn't want it that much, either. It's better to keep my noobish status and laugh at the "superiors" and their old age. "Mwahaha, I'm a teen and I have a life ahead of me and yet I can converse in you old people's language," kind of laugh.
