For all those fans of the other football - the one where people are allowed to hit each other - rejoice! For the best five months of the year have arrived!
As always, there are several questions that are apparent at the start of the NFL season.
-TO. Will Terrell Owens, exiled from Philadelphia, finally settle down in Dallas? As a Philadelphian I am rooting for him to crash.
-Speaking of Philly, will the Eagles rebound from that awful season they had last year and once again reign as champions of the NFC East?
-Will the Steelers repeat their impressive postseason run last year and win the Super Bowl again, although this time without Jerome Bettis/Antwaan Randle-El?
-Will the Seahawks break the Super Bowl loser jinx and return to the playoffs?
-Will the Patriots return to glory and capture their fourth Super Bowl in six years?
-Can the Colts win it all under Peyton Manning?
-Will Peyton's brother Eli finally break out and lead the Giants to glory?
-Is there any chance that Brett Favre's last year with the Packers will bring any hope of success?
-Will the Texans regret drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush?
-And finally, the most pressing question of all: Who will win Super Bowl XLI?
Place your bets, everyone. Sit back, grab the chips and a beer, because it's (American) football season! :charge:

Well, here's the answers after a week:
-TO. Will Terrell Owens, exiled from Philadelphia, finally settle down in Dallas? As a Philadelphian I am rooting for him to crash.
Yes, but as far as the rest of the team...
-Speaking of Philly, will the Eagles rebound from that awful season they had last year and once again reign as champions of the NFC East?
They looked good on Sunday.
-Will the Steelers repeat their impressive postseason run last year and win the Super Bowl again, although this time without Jerome Bettis/Antwaan Randle-El?
They're still decent.
-Will the Seahawks break the Super Bowl loser jinx and return to the playoffs?
Too early to tell, but Branch will help.
-Will the Patriots return to glory and capture their fourth Super Bowl in six years?
Not if they keep playing like they did against Buffalo.
-Can the Colts win it all under Peyton Manning?
They needed to be a BIT more convincing.
-Will Peyton's brother Eli finally break out and lead the Giants to glory?
We'll see next week against the Eagles.
-Is there any chance that Brett Favre's last year with the Packers will bring any hope of success?
No.
-Will the Texans regret drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush?
Look at the stats for each player. My guess is a big fat YES.
Esteemed residents of the Frontroom, do you have any insights on Week 1?
Dallas is my team and I'm sticking with them they have a pretty good team it looks like. Though there may be a change of Quarterbacks.

The Packers must win.:skull:

Green Bay Packers!
It Is Destiny!
Also, the Seahawks were the real winners of the superbowl. But I guess what counts is how much you bribe the refs.

What about that other kind of football...the one with more players and isn't played on a little, toy field?

That one's mostly fun to watch in the stadiums, otherwise it takes too much focus to enjoy.:balloon2:

I cheer for the Cowboys since '91. Unfortunatly i dont see a trip to the SuperBowl with Bledsoe at the helm. So i'll go with Seattle as SB winner. Oh i feel dirty .....

That's what I'm talking about. Sadly, my city's team folded..no season tickets for me for a while.
Damned right. I refuse to recognize last year's Superbowl as a loss. Those calls were so bad, you'd think they took refs from a Little League game and stuck em in the Superbowl. Bullhonkery!
Seahawks will rise again!
Oh keep crying please.

Well if they keep playing like they did last week, I think Butt Chin Bradey is going to be in for a season of hurt. I mean they barely clinched the game with Buffalo which really isn't a top ranked team at all.
I think I'll put my money on the Bengals or the Steelers.
Though I'd really like to see the Raiders do something *cough*

So i guess you're from the Ottawa region ? Dont despair, there's good chance you'll have a team next year. *knock wood*

n the end, the Steelers made more plays.
I'm a Vikings fan, but I'm realistic--this is going to be a rebuilding year for us. That said, we'll still crush the Packers in both games this season. ~D
Packers have almost no talent whatsoever this year, and will be lucky if they even go 8-8.
Bears will win our division (the NFC Central) without much difficulty. Whether they make it all the way to the Super Bowl is another question, however.
My personal pick for Super Bowl winner is probably the Colts, with the Steelers being a close second. I hate both their quarterbacks, but they're good teams. I also really want Tony Dungee to finally win the Big Game--I've always had a soft spot for him, ever since he was the Vikings' defensive coordinator. (I still feel terrible about his son's death, too.)

I think we're looking at two years, sadly. I'm also impatient for Halifax, London and Quebec City to get teams.

As a Cowboys fan, I'm actually quite pleased with this development. Now all we need is for Roy Williams to re-enact his tackle from 2004 in a practice session, and we can get rid of this worthless cancer for the rest of the season. :2thumbsup:

ok Cowboys just beat the Skins....

I'm not gonna go there, if only because I won't be able to stay polite when ranting on about him and Peyton. I'm normally a very genteel kind of guy, but I have rather....strong feelings when it comes to certain NFL players [cough]Terrell Owens[cough], and I don't want to turn this thread into a flame-fest.

Oh well, it's not a perfect world (with apologies to SFTS and kekvitirae). ~;p
My Vikings are actually 2-0 now! Who'da thunk it? Now all we have to do is beat the defending division champs (Chicago Bears), a team that's better than us in just about every way.... ~

Mean spirited.
It just shows your envy of our prowess the last decade.
Holy cow [B]Rothel looked bad Monday night. Bad, yet I'm encouraged by the playcalling. There were a lot of guys open and Big Brothel just didn't hit them. Whisenhut is great when Cowher doens't hamstring him.
It just shows your envy of our prowess the last decade.
No, I just don't care for Favre that much; I never have. (Besides, we've still beaten you guys more often than not the last 13-14 seasons. ~;p )
Come to think of it, I've actually disliked a quite a few NFL QB's over the years (including Vikings). There's just something about them that rubs me the wrong way....
I love Farve he's my favorite QB. Where's the love man Where's the love?

very quitely, the falcons and saints lead their division. monday night they meet to settle the division lead. looking forward to the saints rookie vs mike vick. it matches up as a running-fest, which means most likely they will both suprise us all by passing.

Yeah managed to catch that right as a was about to leave for work, stayed till he was removed. Very rarely is there a injurry that draws blood, but an injurry that is inflicted on purpose, very very bad. Then he had the audasity to argue with the ref. Quite glad the NFL slapped him with the biggest fine for unsportmen like conduct ever, not to mention say good bye to him for 5 weeks. Least the Cowboys were the better men in that scuffle, the center isnt even going to press charges.
