has any one seen a good napoleon game? ( other than Imperial glory and napoleonic total war, the mod.) They should do a good first person shooter about napoleon or world war 1. it's always about WW2, the middle eastern fighting or the futre! with napoleon one you could have Wargram and austerlitz. plus there is plenty of guys to play as like france prussia , austria, italy, spain, england, egypt and russia. ( did i miss one?) with the WW1
one you could have gallipoli and town charges or flying planes. Then switch over to the eastern front or Italian front and not have to do suicode charges!
maybe you could do a mod for call of duty! any pro modders around/ because you could get a real stir going here mates!
well I would give such a CoD mod a go, though I am not artist so I would rather do mapping and scripting. I haven't seen anyone else who mods CoD on these forums, if you go to http://www.modsonline.com/index.php that is a site made up mostly of CoD modders. If you started a post there I would back you up and try drag some others into it. Just PM me if you do decide to. :2thumbsup:
Some of us are expecting a lot from this one: http://www.battlefront.com/products/les_grog/index.html
No date yet but it should be late 2006/early 2007

I had a lot of fun with the Napoleonic scenarios made by uses for Age of Rifles. You can find every major battle and a fair number of minor ones.
Depending on the scale of the scenario, you can play out a battle in an evening or less. It's pretty intuitive, if old school (turn-based, hex-based). Cavalry are not modelled very well, but the muskets and cannons are reasonably well represented (just try to avoid digging in and "defensive formation" - they are extremely powerful, just not very Napoleonic, except for a Hougomont or Grand Redoubt).
The game is abandonware now, so you should be able to pick it up. I feel no guilt saying this, because the designer - Norm Koger - has spoken in favour of the abandonware site that houses it and the company which made the game has sadly folded (SSI).
The scenarios themselves should be available from the wargamer.com site.
If you get into it, make sure you read Norm Koger's FAQs and play with the "oldrules+" switch to get more realistic combat results and reaction fire.
They should do a good first person shooter about napoleon or world war 1.
The History Channel is doing a first person shooter set in the American Civil War.

Just a thought, muskets were innaccurate over 50 yards, and the standard procedure was to stand in a line, and fight from within that position. Just how entertaining might that be in an FPS?
As for WW1, perhaps aiming might be more worthwhile, however, I'm not sure how much fun climbing out of a trench and walking 200 yards into a wall of lead might be...
Basically, the reason most FPSs are based on a more modern period is that as time has gone on, engagements have placed more weight on individuals, rather than units. Vice versa - goes part way to explain why strategy games more prevalently depict periods farther back in time.
For an entertaining (if very old) Napoleonic RTS, try Micropose's Fields of Glory...

You might be right about a Napoleonic shooter, but the ACW saw the widespread use of the rifle and ultimately ended with troops dug in, WW1 style, to try to limit its lethality. An ACW shooter is a pretty cool idea. And if occaisionally you have to advance in close formation, while everyone around you is getting shot to hell like at Fredricksburg or during Pickett's charge, that might even add to the attraction. (Think Saving Private Ryan...).

A Korean War FPS. Now that would be good. Plenty of room for individual initiative, small-level command, varied situations, environments, etc. It's funny how many FPS are set in WW2, and how none (as far as I know) are set in that conflict.

Hopefully they can get the close combat system so it isn't just the best button masher wins. That was were the battle were decide. The attacker usually closed as fast as possible to get out of the musket and canister fire.
I remember the English campaign in EE.
The lasts scenarios are of Napoleon
