Today i encountered a strange thing, i had to fight two rebel armies at Patavium, i'm the roman faction by the way, and at the start of the battle i got a message saying: 'The enemy reinforcements are delayed'. Thank God for that because they had a full stack of them. Anyways, i had to fight the 3 units they threw at me and won, and i got Patavium as well because of that delay. Can anyone explain how that worked?
On another note i also have a question concerning the hastati and principes. I find it weird that sometimes my hastati and principes work as some kind of skirmishers before the enemy rushes to them (Throwing 8 or more times their spears). But sometimes they don't and just stand there while i want them to throw their spears. Is there any feature i have to click orso to make them throw their spears all the time or how does that work? Maybe experience i dunno.
and ah yeah, everytime i get a heroic vistory the game crashes back to desktop and when i reload Eb i have to auto resolve the battle, quite frustrating tbh ://. Is there any fix yet for that? i don't use any generals in my armies so don't think it's the traits CTD.
Greets and thanks lads!

1) Lol, that is cool. I think it all is related to the scale of your victory. I am assuming it was clear, and that may have been enough.
2) There is a button that looks like a bow. Click it to turn on "Fire at Will". Each man only carries 2 pila (I believe), but only part of the unit will throw it each time.
3) If you win a heroic victory and there are enemy reinforcements AND you are using a general, this will commonly occur. There is a fix that you can apply before and after the battle that will fix it.

I haven't yet experienced any CTD with EB 0.7.4, with or without generals, with or without reinforcements. It simply 'seems' as if the EB team has fixed that bit in their 0.7.4. build. :balloon2: :balloon2: :balloon2:
However, I noticed Vanilla to crash sometimes after a large battle (therefore with generally a Heroic Victory), when I still used a system that could run RTW only on low settings. So perhaps it's due to the system, or the preferences (high details, and large units may be the cause) you are using?
The ring about rebels is that if you beat them they loose all their troops on the field and those waiting to fight off it. Pick a fight with 1 rebel unit standing next to a full stack. As long as your PC can't handle 2 full stacks fighting the reinforcements wont arrive, after you crush the 1 unit their entire full stack will magically vanish. I've whipped out 65 units in Germany in 1 battle with this. Quite annoying since I was hoping for a massive epic fight. Changed the reinforcements to always arrive to 'True' in a file so that they always arrive after that, so rare to have a big fight like that.

Well i think i have everything on maximum, got a Nvidia 7950 x2 1 GB DDR video card so, normally it shouldn't crash, i don't encounter any shocks during battles, just when the screen loads back to the world map.
And i got unit size on huge.

Sdragon is right. It's an RTW thing, not an EB thing, that some people can fix if they change their preferences. Further, some computers (if the RTW build determines it's just not fast enough) will absolutely force your settings back if you switch it to 'True' though. Mine, I would switch it and it would always go back. I really really hate this bug too. Especially since I carry sieges to completion most of the time instead of attacking as soon as the rams are built. And quite often one unit of something will come up and attack me, the reinforcements will be delayed, and I get the city for "free".

How fast does one's computer need to be?
I have a laptop (which is what I play RTW on) with a 2.4 ghz processer, 1024 ram but only a 64 meg video card (ATI radeon 7500).

Dunno. People seemed surprised that mine was forcing the change back to false, but it happened every time I would start the game back up. I eventually had to give up my huge settings and went to small since I went to an even slower cpu though. I haven't had the problem with the small settings then.
