I thought once of doing it, but by the time I got to the end of it, I was jsut so bored with it and sick of playing that faction that I just accepted victory and played MTW.

I created a rebel empire once :)
Played as the Sarmatians, and just sacked every settlement on the map.
Probably the hardest campaign I've ever played, because you've no money for more then 2 or 3 stacks, and as soon as you sack a settlement, every other faction in the vicinity tries to take it.

On vanilla RTW I tried as the Greeks. I had a huge empire and the only ones I had left to conquer were the Carthaginians. Then my empire sort of rotted from within.:embarassed:

So then I stopped playing because every turn a new province would revolt with extremely good troops. Every rebel province WAS mine.

Conquer the entire map

It can be done quite easily in vannila RTW...
Especially in 1.0 if you play whith any roman faction ~:)
But as other players said, it is very boring....
When i start to "steamroll" over the map, i quit the campaign and start another one.

Howewer whith the mods, especially the ones that aim at historicall accuracy, it is indeed, very very hard...

I ussualy dont play this way.... i ussually like to stay on the defensive for as long as it is possible... only attack if absolutely necesary, i never betray my allies, etc. And when i expand, i try to expand as much as possible in a historically accurate way. So, I do a sort of roleplaying , but its more fun ~:)

I did it as the Julii; once you've beaten the campaign, crushing the rest of the map (which tends to be places like Scythia, with zero tech) is pretty much cake, other than the Amazons hiding up in the top of the map.

What gets to be difficult is KEEPING the entire map. A few turns after you conquer the entire map, if you keep playing, cities start to erupt into revolt and the whole thing becomes very difficult indeed to restrain, especially since your best armies are far away in Scythia and other fringe territories at this point.

Same with me. Julii. I only had one settlement left to capture... the amazons. They ate up stack after stack and let me tell you its a b*tch to march armies from the heartlands to the amazon territory. Add the fact that every turn 2-3 settlements would rebel and need to be recaptured... it's just a pain. For me, the first 60 turns of the campaign are the best. Once you reach a certain point, your already the strongest faction. I start over quite often.

I have done the whole map...but not as you intended in this post.

It took me three campaigns. I chose the campaigns deliberately so that by the end of them I would have covered the whole area.

I was attempting to do it with parthia once, steam rolling the mediterranean from east to west, but i got to rome, conquered it, won the game and couldnt be bothered so i quit.
