View Full Version : Effectiveness of chariots?

I'm probably the only one, but for some reason, I find my chariots never cause many casualties. I heard on another forum (one that has been unaccessable for some time now) that it is possible to increase the collision detection distance on the scythes so they can do more damage.
Is there any truth to this, and, if so, what can I do to change it?
Thanks in advance!

Yea, I noticed that too. They're more prone to knock soldiers down instead of hurting them. I haven't tried modding the scythe's range though.
One thing is certain though: they destroy cavalry. Because cavalry has no "knocked down" state where they're pretty much invulnerable until they got up again, chariots just slaughter them.

Go into you descr_mount.txt file and find the relevant chariot entry. Try:
1) increasing mass
2) decreasing attack delay
3) increasing scythe_radius

Thank you, Richard. That's exactly what I needed...maybe too much so.
When my scythed chariots decimate a whole army I know I've gone overboard.:laugh4:

You can also add the AP and area effects to the damage in the export_descr_unit text.
