This case (http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=2455221) has several interesting aspects, including the way the girl alerted authorities by using text messaging, but what really freaks me out is the parallel to the German case, and this sentence:


This is the second case this year in South Carolina involving an abducted teenage girl taken to an underground hideout.

What's with all of the pervs digging bunkers? Is there something in the criminal pedophile zeitgeist that says, "Hey, kidnap a minor and dig a bunker"?
