Well Ive out something intresting today so everyone gather round. My Granmum traced her side of the family although back to 1545 to Portsmouth England. now thats cool but the really cool thing is John Proctor the opinated tavern owner who spoke out agianst the Salem witch trials and was latter hung for it is my Greatx15 grandad. Oh it gets better! Now he was convicted and hung but so was his wife however she was spared due to the fact she was preagnant. So my life couldve ended 400 years ago if they had decided to hang my greatx15 grandmum. I know this may scare you as a world without me may have had dire dire consquences but I felt yall should know

I'm related to Llewilyn the Last, but I don't go around telling everybody about it. English Folks might think I've got an aire of self importance or something.

I know exactly what you mean. A world without Hitler would have been a world without me. Gotta have balance, I suppose.

Not really, when you consider that all it takes is for two people at any point in your ancestry to have simply not met for you to cease to exist.. Aren't we lucky to be here?

Impressive stuff SFTS. The only sure ancestor I can find of any acclaim was a fellow named John Adshead (http://www.exclassics.com/newgate/ng445.htm)..

Seems strange that the wife was spared just because she was pregnant. Considering the atmosphere, I would have figured that they would have tagged the baby as the spawn of Satan, and torched her as well. :inquisitive:

Soooooo, how's it feel to have Old Scratch in your bloodline? :laugh4:

Yeah, we have a low tolerance for Londoners down here.

Nice to see the genes of drink addled sailors and Pompey brutes have made it across the oceans and survived the centuries! ~

I wish I had a x15 grandpa that was a witch, I’d give him a call on the ouija board.

It would be funny if someone here traced their ancestry back to a x15 grandpa who was a Salem witch hunter. Well, funny in a weird, uncomfortable way.

As long as you know the difference between Welsh and English...

Yes, I think the Welsh will kill you first tho. They have a history of being down-trodden on by the English.

Well, from the Welsh I've met, they don't particularly care whether I'm related to him or not. The English just seem mean though when you mention ancestry... like "I can't believe rabble like you could've been descended from us."

In general don't call a Welsh person English. It's like calling a Canadian an American etc

Yes, that wood happen to a people that have constantly been kidnapped by fairies and englishmen and trasnported to places like Australia, Barbados, America, everywhere else.
Probably common in the Welsh too and same with the Scots.

Wow, your family and mine probably met way back then. I can trace my history to the Putnams family of Salem Mass. Too bad your x15th grandpappy didn't make it though.

But I also believe that if anyone could trace their family history back a couple of hundred of years, we all will be finding interesting information in our distant past.
Of course in my case, that history ended when my great grandfather died before he could tell anything to my grandfather, the only information wich I could gather was that he came here as an inmigrant from Italy (i.e. nothing interesting)...
