I don't know about you, but to me the news leaking out from CA gives me the impression that MTW2 is a bit rough around the edges and could do with more time to smooth out the wrinkles.

From what I've read, however, even that's a mighty big "if".

As of only a couple weeks ago, CA had said the game was still in alpha. That means that--at most--they'll only have had two months to beta-test Medieval 2 until its projected release date. Less than that, actually, since there's usually a 3-4 week period from a game going gold to when it shows up on the shelves. Given that, it sounds like they could probably use another 6 months or so of beta-testing. Otherwise, I fear M2 is going to be at least as buggy as Rome was upon its release.

I've gotten the same vibes. But i try to think positive.

But that's usually how games are being released these days.

they do 95% get i on the selves, take the buckos and patch the other 5% (read 3%) Even though im pretty sure CA wants to release a quality product, I'm getting the feeling they're being pressured by Sega.

Ah well at least its not half as bad as EA. They havent even managed to get Battlefield 2 to work properly after a year

They shood ask us to beta test! We are good sources of seesoned total warriors. Orgahs, I heer are esteemed by CA (why else wood we have CA Orgahs?). I wood like a more polished product than a hurried game. Take your time, CA, I want you to do the best you can.
Maizel, you are spot on about BF2.

I wish the would realise it later, just to include some of the features we loved in MTW, namely civil wars. I don't care how long it takes, but when it comes out, I want to say "Ah, this is even better than MTWI".

If "now" means November, I say "now".

Think about it, since the MT2W engine is an evlolution of the completely new RTW engine, it shouldn't be quite as buggy as RTW was on release (which I didn't think was too bad anyway). Balancing is another issue entirely. I expect it to be rather poor. As far as I'm concerned, the features are the most important, as they're unlikely to change after release. Balancing issues can always be addressed.

Im eager, desperately eager to play MTW2, however, when i bought rome, that completely took over my life, and it still is, because ive both expansions, and numerous mods (after discovering this glorious forum :)) and theres that many mods i still want to play, that i dont really want MTW2 out this very minute, so i can finish the other games, and so the CA can iron out all the problems

Sounds funny given that the Gothic 3 Alpha was almost unplayable one month before release but the Gold Master played by one magazine is supposed to be almost bugfree.
Now you say "MTW2 is a bit rough around the edges" and think it needs a lot of work to be done. Of course it depends on the programmers and cause of bugs, but I think some bugs or whatever you mean with being rough(I have no idea about bugs in the game from the information I got) may be easier to solve than most people think.
I voted they should take their time anyway since I want a new CPU before getting M2TW so they can just as well optimise until November next year or so.~;)

atm I don't have the money for it anyway so let them take their time. Next to that all they're doing now mainly is bugtesting. I believe that once they've taken out the first bugs, that part (custom battle, maybe small campaign) will come out as Demo, while they continue to bug test.

Oh, don't tell me that (G3) is coming out soon? Well there go my evenings for the forseeable future! :laugh4:

As for M2TW the release date, we are still almost 2 months away from the presummed date so I think they have so time for QA'ing and polishing yet...

I'd like to see the demo very soon and the game when they've fixed the bugs we find.

Take their time, although it shouldn't be as buggy with Rome as this is the 3rd game they've done on this engine. I'm sure there will be bugs (there always are), but I don't think it will be as bad as RTW.

I guess a lot also depends on how long SEGA are willing to give them to polish the game. I've always felt that MTW would have been so much better if they spent another 2 weeks on it.

I really hope they take their time with it before releasing the game. I really do not want to see the same thing I saw with BF2 when that first came out, an unfinished game.

I would like them to "smooth the wrinkles", I can't get it for another year anyway.

I'd rather they took their time and made it great.
