Check it out, looks sweet: thread over at TW centre (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=62863)

I've known that Medieval pikes used the planted pike like that & it occurs to me that a Hellenistic Phalanx would most likely have done something very similar?

One criticism though, the guys down the front seem to be rather over doing the crouch unless there is a variation with another rank doing half way between the crouch & standing (which would be great for a 5 rank phalanx :) )

Excellent stuff - the halberd formation is also very interesting. I wonder if the English Billmen will use the same 'phalanx-like' formation?

Looks like CA weren't fibbing when they talked about all the new animations - glad it's not all gone into the kill moves (as fun as they look)! There doesn't seem to be any clipping either, I'm very much looking forward to seeing all this in action.

That's because the pic is taken by a mobilecam.

I wouldn't judge graphic quality from those pictures, they appear to be digital photos, possible from a camera phone, of a monitor. From all other true screen shots and gameplay videos we've seen, I don't think there will much to complain about in terms of graphics, except maybe the amount of computer power needed to take full advantage of it.

If some guy was holding an axe blade over my head I'd crouch pretty low as well.

I'm glad for the return of a good spear unit like that, it looks like it would be a very good anchor unit for your battle line. Also, that looks just like that formation is usually portrayed on the History Channel.

Heh, yeah...
But look at the pics of re-enactors further down the thread, thats pretty much the extent of crouch I'd have expected. (at least as the hypothetical inbetween stage)
