Is there an existing thread dealing with desc.grass and how to reduce grass detail and hence improve battle speed?

Can't you just turn grass off completely in the graphics options?

Whats the problem of the grass, in low you cant play a battle because you pc doesnt work correctly?

It seems that the RTRPE changes to desc.grass slowed things down whatever the level of details. I put the grass level down to none, and the pre-battle speech still saw my pointer jerk around while I tried to click on Start Battle. The full install for RTRPE 1.7 will include the original desc.grass, which will hopefully solve the problem.

Hmm, if you set the grass to none, then it must be something else which is causing the slowdown. Does RTRPE have Lods for it's units?

What are Lods? Also, I'm just taking the mods' word for it that it's down to desc.grass. If someone is kind enough to upload the original, or just spoiler it for me to c&p, I could test out their theory.

Which version? I don't know if they're different but just in case...

LODS are the lower detail unit models (used for far away units and lower graphics settings)

Not i have seen. but you can edited the grass density size etc in a file that defines it, simply making it less dense might do what you want, along with makleing it ankle height rather than uber height....
