Hmm. That is weird. Are you running 0.74? Is this the last city to fulfill your victory conditions? Is this with family members? Has one of these family members been victorious often over the Carthies? Will this totally wipe out the Carthies? There are lots of things that could happen I suppose.

ok. i am running 0.74.

it is not the last city i think, although there are the king and the heir inside ( i think they still got 1 island mallorca ).

my general was not often fight against the carthies ( just 2 or 3 battles he fought ).

and yes the carthies will be wiped of. and because the leaders of the carthies die, the victory conditions are completed but

then the big CTD. it does not return to windows but it stucks in the game. i cant move the mouse button, sometimes i also cant go back to windows and i ve to shut down the pc .. :wall: ( p.s. i m not that kinda new, but this is really strange to me )

Does the 0.74 still have victory condition movies? I don't remember... You might want to run RTW without videos if it does..

well. i first played eb with the carthies and when i was losing, because some

other faction was faster, there was a movie. but ok i dont need the video but i

want to play further if you know what i mean ;)

does it crash if you auto-resolve the battle? I know you may not want to, but if it means losing the campaign I'd do it (or let the siege go on for another turn or till they starved or sallied).

ok let me explain :).

first i tried to auto resolve it when the siege would ve been for more 6 turns -> i won -> crash

then i tried to siege them until the rounds over -> win -> crash

so there is no way to win without this crash

Assassinate their leaders!

though that may take a few tries...

Hmm. You may have us there. I don't know what to advise at this time. I can't help but think it has to be either something to do with the faction being destroyed or something to do with a particular trait (probably the former though). That is hard for us to playtest sometimes though - till certain factions are destroyed. If you want to keep playing though, let this city live and try to talk them into being a protectorate or something. Sorry you're having trouble with it.

well no problem. for me it seems to be sum "victory gain" trouble <-> trait. i will try sum other things; assi them i dont think it will help but diplomacy is a good way :) .. would be good to know if such things also happen to other ppl and/or factions : )

I had a similar problem a while back. Not the carthaganians last city, but the faction leader in it. I tried many things, different leader, no leader, auto resolve, I even tried assassinating their leader. All ctd. I was going to try to take all their cities and take carthage with their faction leader last, but I got bored and saved over that save game.

Let me ask you this, is the ctd after battle on the occupy/enslave/exterminate screen, as mine was?

And have you done toggle_fow to be sure of what holdings they have? (I had been assuming it was saharan provinces they had that was my problem)

It was on this screen right after the battle like in your case

but i did not put off the fow so it is a little bit different.

so what did you do to get rid of the problem ? ( ps mine is in iberia )

They have not sahara holdings (specifically Sahara, Gaetulia, Cydamae, Phasania, and maybe one other (the ones that won't revolt no matter what))? Then it has to do with the destruction of the faction though no more family members. I would try taking all of their other settlements first, then coming back to that one.

ok i will try this. i hope it will work, otherwise i will try to be like the romans in asterix and obelix ;) :book: , forts surround the last city hehe

ahhhh. i conquered all cities of them until the last was left with the leader inside

and now it worked NORMALLY. :laugh4: :laugh4: thank you all for the help and

have a nice time with eb. marcus you are great ;)

Cool, good job maskoolin!

For EB team: This error seems to be tied to Carthage having territories left but no family members.

Does Carthage hold the Sahara province?

If so, then the problem is probably that there are no troop training capabilities in the Sahara for the rebel faction. To fix it, go to export_descr_buildings.txt, and under the "capability" section for each core_building (governor's palace, etc), type the following:

recruit "rebel pantodapoi" 0
This will enable the recruitment of "rebel pantodapoi" for all factions with this building, however it won't appear in the recruitment browser.

Try destroying Carthage again and it should work normally. I've had this problem before (see the "Pics and History of your EB Empire" thread), and this is how I solved it.

Cheexsta, when I had my problem, I tried to give the provinces the ablility to recruit something but it still crashed (never rebeled either - I am assuming I didn't do something right in editing desc_building). I believe maskoolin only had 2 carth towns, not in the sahara, (correct me if i misread that). The only theory I had at the time was the same as yours though, Cheexsta...
