View Full Version : If one could add just one more faction...(Round II)

Round II.

This is based on the more popular choices from the first go.

As I understand the make up of the game: options for either the Teutonic Knights or Burgundy would require them coming in as emerging factions. Even so...

Given the era it starts in and the map, I narrowed it down to Aragon, Kiev and the Cumans, and plumped for the first.

Interestingly the present leader (the Knights) is what i would chose last...

I choose Kiev simply to give more love to that part of the map... The fourth muslim faction would be my second choice...

Although I voted for the Baghdad Caliphate in the last poll, this time around I voted for Aragon (although the Caliphate is still my 2nd choice). In terms of gameplay, I think adding Aragon would overall make it more interesting than any other of the factions listed.

I say this, however, in the full knowledge that I'm biased. I love having the Aragonese in MTW when I play as the Spanish--which is often. ~;)

I vote for the Cumans as they would make the Byzantine Empire and the Hungarians stay on their toes.

And where is serbia? It was fourth most popular in round 1. From this set, baghdad caliphate probably...

I forgot to add Serbia. It should have been added.

Voted Aragon, but i would much rather serbia (or....better yet......add mongols as a playable faction)

Thats why I voted for them last time and I see no reason to change that ~:)

I voted for Baghdad. Only four muslim factions? Come on!!!

OK, I've added Serbia to the poll. And given it my vote to make up for any lost time.

Gee, now you do it. I was going to use Pindar mistake to request that serbia automaticaly qualifies for the round III. Now you've ruined my cunning plan...
(back to the drawing board)...~

Aragon may be cool, but muslim really need another faction.

Since Lithuania was left out of the first, that poll already might not have been very good, since on the twcenter forums, it's second, right after Aragon.
They had a lot more voters there as well, making that poll slightly more reliable

The Abassids were pretty much in decline during the game period and were gone by the mid 13th century, after the mongol conquest. Nevertheless it would be interesting to have another muslim faction, well the muslim faction, and containing the 'real' Caliph at that, so I voted for them.

Aragon as at the start date they were independent and should be recognised as such, also because their so challenging to play as in M:TW.

Cumans. Main reason, they are different from the other 'settled' states and that has to be worth a vote IMO

I would go with the Bagdad calipahte. I like playing as Islamic factions (mostly to avoid the pope). Also, as them I could rub it in the Catholics face that I own Jeruselum and they don't. Plus I found that region slightly boring in MTW (It always ended up with Byzantine weakend an Egypt and Turks happily living in peace).

Hear hear! Those were both big reasons why I enjoyed playing the Egpytians so much in MTW.

Woah; since when?? ~ :inquisitive: In every single game I've ever played, the Egyptians--whether they were played by me or the AI--were always at war with the Turks. One of those two factions usually destroyed the other within 50-75 years (if not sooner). I honestly can't imagine those two factions being best buds for any length of time....

Okay maybe not peaceful. By the time I reach there .though. they are both alive and about equal power (or it at least looks that way). I say they lived happily together because I was too lazy to check the diplomacy (didn't matter, I always beat them anyways):2thumbsup: .

I did as well. Personally I felt Aragon was the most influential of the factions, however I desperatly want to play a good nomad faction. In BKB's mod he added some that were fun, however I dont find MTW's combat system very suited for the steppe warfare. A full 3-d army of nomads just sounds too apealing to pass up.

I like Serbia the most of the poll choices. A semi-westernized kingdom, with strong infantry and its famous Serbian knights coupled with some Slavic units and horse archers.

However I think the Cumans would overall make a more useful contribution to the gameplay, so this time I voted for them.

Aragon is another faction that I'd have loved to see implemented, but now that we have Portugal there's less reason to put yet another faction in Iberia (would still be interesting though) so there are better choices IMO.

The game start in 1080. Teutonic order is created in the next century. How to add them in the game? It is too unreal :book:

Kiev

Because Russia is something completely different. It came into being after Tatar domination faltered. Moscow emerged much later than Kiev, and it was completely different in terms of culture.

Aragon (because it just makes sense). I can also see the chance for Burgundy to emerge if the controlling faction mismanages the area. I could actually see all except Serbia and Baghdad. I would treat the former as rebels while I don’t think the latter had much of an influence (didn’t they rapidly loose influence compared to their high start position?) especially compared to the Turks, Egypt, and the (tickle me) Elmos.
