I have recently noticed that many people have said that a poll on this matter would be a good idea so I decided to do one.

So what do you think faction X will be?

EDIT: This is NOT what faction you want it to be it's what faction you THINK it is. So please don't select the faction that you want to see. Pick the faction that you think it will be.

Sabaeans are the only likely one on that list. I thought it would be an Iberian faction to begin with, tbh. But aye, the chances are it will be something in the region. Given how unique the culture was around the Horn of Africa/Yemen area, it would certainly be an excellent place for it. My favourite guess so far is the Boii, admittedly, so the Ligurians isn't that bad a stab. The Sweboz need some competition up thar. I don't think it will be an outright Germanic faction though (Hattoz, Bastarnoz, Gotanoz etc) since the faction icon has a completely different look about it.

I just noticed something when checking the votes and who voted for what. I found that cunctator (who is an EB member) said the Eastern Numidians (Lybians). So is he just misleading us or are The Eastern Numidians the mystery faction?

I'm confused about the numbers. Are Occultus and Faction X one and the same, or two new factions? :dizzy2:
I think the Sabeans will definately be in, and from the goat-emblazoned Occultus sig I think they are Occultus. If Faction X is something else, I'd put money (not a lot) on it being the Belgae or Chatti.
I doubt it'd be the east Numidians becasue otherwise the team wouldn't be floating the horrendous idea of landblocks to keep the Carthaginians and Ptolemies apart.
Apparantly Occultus means: What is yet to be revealed. So as far as I know Occultus is faction X.

I'd absolutely love to see Syracuse as a faction... Just think of what you could do with history... Conquer Sicily, an fortress within itself, Colonies in Spain, Africa, Southern Gaul... War with Rome and Carthage... That's be awesome.

Someone make a mini mod for this, remove the Casse and replace them with Syracusians. DO IT NOW!

I know what Occultus means, I jus didn't know if the EB team were using it as a "codeword" for a specific hidden faction, rather than for the generality of unpreviewed content. Looks like that's been answered in the negative, so I'm guessing there'll be no Belgae or Chatii to keep the mighty Sweboz on their toes :shame:

The mini-mod idea is a good one. With so many new units, it might be possible to do a semblance of justice to a handful of factions in particularly interesting starting positions, like the Helvetii, Tylis, Pergamon, Syrakuse, and one of the north italians (Boii, I suppose, were the most powerful). I think I voted for Chatii, because I'd like to see some more action in central Europe. I see a lot of votes for the Sabaeans, and I think they'd be interesting, and would add a lot of diversity, but who are they gonna fight? Even the Ptolemies are several provinces away from Saba at the start.

Just because 9/10 people here think it will be the Sabeans doesn't mean it actually will be. I trust EB has picked the new faction so that it will be the most interesting and enjoyable faction they could add into the game, not some boring desert faction in the Sahara that had absolutely no influence on the ancient world what so ever.

Even though I would love to see the Siracusians as a faction, I believe that the Lybians or Sabeans (preferrably the 1st) are going to be the Facion X...

Strangely Krusader (EB Member) said Syracuse. Hmmm mabye even the EB team don't know what faction X will be. Perhaps in EB there is an inner group of EB seniors and they are the only people who know...

Oh and tk-421 (EB member) said other and he has not specified what it will be. Perhaps he is a member of that inner group of seniors...

Even though I don't think there's any doubt about an Arabian faction, I'd love to see the Suiones as a standalone faction (Okay, so I'm not very impartial here, since I'm from Sweden), At least create some regional-specific traits or buildings in the settlements around Scandinavia. If you guys think this is a good idea I can provide you with all the information you need. :D

I have just worked out what faction X will be:
It will be Imperium Romani (Imperial Romans a.k.a. Roman Rebels) as I think loyalty is coming into 0.8 (in 1.5 loyalty can be added as a stat). The Ibex shield is actually a new banner for an old faction that has already been revealed. So everybody, what do you think of my hypothesis?

I think it's wrong. EB already has it's own loyalty system (traits) and using the 1.5/BI loyalty can only be done by counter-factions, which I can't possibly imagine EB to do (since it takes up faction slots). Adding a Roman counter-faction would be a huge waste when you can instead use the slot for a playable faction that reduces some of the empty space on the map.

Maybe they are doing what the RTR-team are doing.

Depending on what faction you choose, the x-faction will be a diffrent faction(a faction that a alot of influence on your faction).

I really love this idea. And what's making it even better? All the x-factions (or counter-factions) are playable(most of them)! This give you up to around 40 diffrent faction to play as. It's insane! :dizzy2:
