Is there a way to have multiple installs of RTW so you can use different mods? I did this with MTW, but the same tactic doesn't work with RTW. Can someone offer some help? Sorry is this is in the wrong forum, thanks.

Of course you can. Just install a fresh RTW and copy and paste the entire thing somewhere else. When you're installing a mod just install it over one of the other RTWs. I'd only use this on overwrite mods, to save space, since RTW is quite a bit bigger than MTW.

The simplest way is to copy the whole RTW folder, to unpack the mod and then to copy/paste the modded files into the RTW folder, overwriting the files already there. Usually mods come with installers that you just have to point to the right directory to install the mod in.
If the maker knew his business, however, there“s no need to overwrite (since each overwritten copy of RTW+BI is over 2GB harddrive space) and set up the mod-switch. The mod gets copied into a folder in the rtw root directory and you just need to add a desktop shortcut with the extension -mod:* insert modname here*
Not all mods, sadly, make use of this space-saving feature, however, so best ask if it does before installing.

/me laughs at self.

I just realized how stupid my question was. I never even thought about just copying the folder. Thanks guys.

When modders don't make their mod compatible with the -mod: switch, there's always the JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (link in sig).

when i swich mods the map for some of the mods turn red
???
like the water is red the ground is orange
but when i switch back to one of the other mods the map is fine
it seems to happen with the campaign map only
oh and sometimes on the campaign map there seems like there is wierd invisible walls

Sounds most bizarre. JSGME is a simple overwrite programme that keeps a backup of the files overwritten and is able to restore them. It doesn't edit the files themselves in any way. Does this happen with a few specific mods or just with all of them?

It happens a lot with 1.5 patch mods coming from 1.6 BI
ie if i play a mod in Bi then switch to one that is in RTW the RTW one will be screwy
it happens with almost all mods
im reinstalling RTW due to a system crash so im going to reinstall everything...
its possible something was installed wrong
though JSGME worked awsome when i had 1.2 and was switching a lot between EB, RTR, VLad and Darth

Are you referring to a specific mod? What do you mean copy and paste? You might get a conflict message if you're trying to install more than one mod.

guess i should have been more specific
i installed a fresh install then i copy and pasted a new copy which i renamed for a second install in which i installed arthur total war
but i got a conflict in the mod
probably something i did wrong
i do end up reinstalling rtw a crazy amount of times

before when i had jsgme
i had that red map thing with darth and extended greeks

right now i reinstalled everything
had to due a system crash
JSGME seems to be working well right now
but i only have one mod so far installed
im going to try a second one and see if it works
