Does anyone here play Sims 2? Is it worth the time & effort?

My daughter has it ,and a few of the expansions .She loves it because it's a pretty cool dolls house type of thing .
Seems to me that there's not much more to it than dressing your sims up and buying stuff for their houses .
What ever floats your boat I suppose .
Well, back in the day there was the never-ending quest to find new and interesting ways to kill your Sims. And I had a friend who was determined to get her male sim impregnated by aliens (never happened -- she had to download a patch to make the odds better).
I used to upload my sister's save games and put the sims in a pool, then take away the ladders. The sims are too incompetant to climb out of the pool wihtout the ladders. Drowning follows. Then my sister yelling at me.

I think in one of the scenarios the guy gets kidnapped by aliens and returns pregnant.
I liked jsut playing achitect and building houses. And of course killing Sims, one of the funniest beeing trapping them in a doorless room. I found it great that whenever they urinated on the floor, they always whipped out a mop to clean up the mess.
I construct the towns and my wife plays the game itself.
I found building the houses very interesting indeed and Sarah likes to play the game as you can pick up and play for as long or as short a time as you wish as there are very few “set” scenarios.
Best bits:
Vampires, Alien babies, some really bizarre pre-set families, and of course being able to build the house of your dreams.
Oh, and it doesn’t require an uber computer to run.
Worse bits:
Everyone will have it and you know there’ll be like, fifteen expansions that you’ll take forever to install and they’ll only add one or two noticeable changes to the main game.
Personally, if you are a casual PC gamer and don’t have the time or interest in “war like” games (like the Total War series) then its ideal.

How many ways can you kill them? My sister has managed to get one to be unable to urinate. Glaucus has just said the swimming pool thing. I don't think they age.. and I've done the baby neglect- baby dead thing.
Of course, this is all in the original, so I haven't heard of bizarre deaths.

In the Sims 2, they do age and their babies do grow up, unlike those infernal things in the Sims 1 who needed a lot of care and never grew out of their cot (which you couldn't move, very bad if your sims were smooching in the corridor). I think most people just ignored the babies in the end until the social services picked them up.
Sims games are one of these guilty pleasures, like nintendogs and sort sort of stuff. If it clicks, it clicks. Now for those that liked it, I suggest you try this one out,

Ghost Master :balloon2:
It's dungeon keeper meets the sims, and fun as heck. Objective of the game is to scare the sims so badly that they flee the map, and scaring them is very rewarding in a sadistic way.

Yes! Now that was a great game! Sadly, my game crashed everytime I tried to get on to one mission (something to do with dead chickens, if I remember correctly). However, that may be to do with the fact that when I discovered two CDs in the box, I kept one and took everything else back to the shop to get my money back (naughty, I know). Now, I was wondering, did you have a second CD in your box, in which case my CTD was due to not having that CD?

The Sims: When your life is so crap you need another one.
Actually it's probably not that bad, there's a bit of fun to be had. Unlike 'Second Life' which is tragic.
