Well as an Englishman in, err, Baltimore I am perfectly happy... :2thumbsup:

Now if only I can convince the wife on the whole PC upgrade thing...

Well I've gotta upgrade first, so I won't be picking it up anytime soon anyway. It's just as well, as it will give me ample time to garner people's impressions of the game before I decide whether to get it or not.

The same time and maybe before.
The store I use has the 10th and they are usually very reliable.

UK usually gets releases on the Friday, so maybe 17th? Although play.com have it as the 10th, and Amazon have it as the 24th... Gah!

My store also has the 10th for the release date and they are very reliable.

Ah well, I'm glad that we have an "official" date. No more unexpected delays, it would have killed me if I found out M2TW was delayed for a couple of months. :)

So, YAY SEGA!

This isn't a real shocker. I'm pretty sure most ppl were predicting this except the few who thoought that it's be late late Nov. Still i'm surprised Totalwar.com hasn't announced there official release date rather then put it on some obscure page.

If it is true, which seems likely, at least we can now look forward to our demo in 2-3 weeks hopefully :laugh4:

Aye, that is a big advantage. No more DJ-imitating for me! :)

The game is propably a full dvd so around 4+gb i would assume, 11gb free propably means that the game will be using some free space on hdd when you play besides the amount of gb that will be installed. Thats my assumption atleast.

Don't mind when it is released just aslong as the demo is out in good time for me to decide whether or not its worth my money.

I told you! EB games always has accurate release dates. Unless the game is from Japan.

Well I think the report is still mid october or even if it's late october. While i wish it was right now i'm sure a month of testing is plenty time for most since we will probably only get two battles.

A dual layered DVD is almost 9 gigs. Plus everything on it will compressed (think zip files) as much as possible.

Still Nov. 14 for North America. W00t! :2thumbsup:

Not zip because then everybody can see the code. RTW and expansions use .dat type of files.

Dual layer DVDs have high price. Probably will be two single layer's DVDs.

As far as UK is concerned I've always found Play.com's dates and general service to be very reliable, I preorder most of my games from them these days.

Got Dark Messiah on preorder from them but I need more money before I can preorder MIITW :(

Amazon and Game UK now have it as the 10th November also....do we dare dream?

Gameplay.co.uk is always right on the ball when it comes to UK release dates and getting the game on the day or the day before. It currently has the release date as the 24 November.

Not zip because then everybody can see the code. RTW and expansions use .dat type of files.

Zip archives don't allow viewing of code. Much of the game data will already be compiled into binaries except that which is available to modders and used for configuration. A .dat file is usually just a binary data file, it can contain quite literally anything. The game may be distrubuted in cabs or similar.

At a guess the 11 GBs is because they have the install compressed on the DVD. When you run it, it is uncompresses itself to a temporary space on your HD and runs the install from there so at the max it uses 11GB of space before clearing away the temporary install files...

Just my guess...

I agree Bob, 1DVD 4.5GB compressed -> say 5.25GB uncompressed -> copy to final directory -> clean up temp files -> 5-6GB full install.

I don't understand where everyone has this ludicrous idea that it will be 11GB installed (but then, I thought most people had some idea what SSE is too...)

11Gb is what it says in the official min specs that SEGA released.

CORRECTION: The "collectors edition" won't cost more than a regular game.

How much will the collector's edition cost then?

Hmmm, just checked my Play account and it seems I pre-ordered on the 30th January. Yes, I had faith. (Or I'm sad - I prefer the faith option).

The collectors edition is apparently £44.99 or thereabouts. I believe Game are selling it for £39.99 if you pre-order, I'm sure other nations' retailers will offer similar deals though.

So what will the collector's edition have more than a normal copy?
