Hi Everyone,

I created this thread to see whether there is still interest in MTW gaming and modding.

A positive input will hopefully help to lift up the MTW subforum to a higher level than it currently is and make participation and discussion amongst the members more frequent.

Thanks,
Aenarion

Our Samurai Warlords Team is constantly working on improving the mod.
We also play regularly Multiplayer as well as single player.

Our interest is still very high, not only in the depiction of the Sengoku period but mainly in improving the gameplay. The campaign we've in the beta_7 version is regarded as very challenging and the Multiplayer stats and graphics try to make the best out of the M:TW/VI engine. Most players are more than satisfied.
Neither Rome, nor the upcoming M2:TW will change that because of the flaws of the engines. (Considering M2:TW we can only speculate of course but it seems that speeds and combat modifiers which are in MTW will not all make it into M2:TW)

Our latest experiment is to import the original Shogun texture tiles. It works nicely in campaign mode and provides excellent maps, combined with the original Japanes models.
In MP we're still suffering some problems with those textures but we'll eventually fix that, too.

I'm no modder, but I certainly still play MTW quite often. (I'm on a temporary hiatus, as I'm currently playing Shogun; but I'll come back to it before long. ~:) ) It easily remains as one of my favorite games, even after 4 years. Installing the XL Mod in particular has really added life the MTW. In addition, I think I may be checking out the Samurai Mod before too long!

I'm still a big fan of MTW. I've been playing Pike & Shot most recently, but I've got a number of mods loaded up on my hard-drive.

At the moment, I'm looking forward to Age of Warlords, the Sengoku campaign, the Silmarillion, and various patches. Keep those mods coming!

MTW is still fun for me, especially after learning how to mod basic units and buildings. Knowing how to mod makes it a lot more fun to play since you can make the game run at your own pace. I've been experimenting with new factions and units for a while and its kept me interested. Modding new units, buildings, and factions are very simple, everyone who's a fan of MTW should download gnome editor so they can at least move things around. I'm experimenting with LukMapMaker and if i can make new maps it will totally make MTW a keeper! MTW modding should be encouraged because of how simple it is.

I have a problem when i try changing graphics for units on the battle map, the images are all out of sync. Could someone email me. sir_breunor@hotmail.com
I tried just changing the images in bifreader and making sure the coordinates cooresponded but it didn't work. Are there steps i can follow?

MTW will easily remain on my pc for a long, long time. Nevermind the graphics, it's the gameplay that counts here. Besides, I do have to play all of the mods for it, right?

My God, yes I am still interested in MTW. I don't care if MTW2 is coming out.
This is the original. Why yes it has its evident flaws, but still, it's just that good.
Besides my comp just doesn't have the requirements for MTW2, and I've yet to try the mods out. I'll wait for some time until MTW2 sorts out all its bugs and what not, then that's when I'll get it, and it'll be considerably cheaper as well.
Too much of a classic to let it fade in the distance.
Respek. :2thumbsup:

I feel pretty confident about my mtw modding abilities. I'm not an expert, but i think i got a lot of it covered. I should compile a list of the sources I used and try to share with you an idea of where im at. I can make new factions, units, buildings, and i taught myself how to change building skins, and im trying to understand how to make lukmapmaker to work so i can make new maps. I think that about covers it, except i have no clue how to change graphics apparently theres more to it than just changing the colors in bifreader. I have successfully changed campmap pieces, but then i forgot how i did it. I don't understand .buf files, but i must have gotten it to work somehow. I figured out how to switch units weapons, but i'm not even going to try to mess with the coordinate systems to adjust their positions... Is anyone interested or is this too basic? otherwise ill find better things to do with my time.

Didn't mean to sound so negative... If anyone wanted me to I will collect all the sources that helped teach me how to mod, so people wouldn't have to look through the archives. Then I could sumarize it step by step in my own words so youd have it explained in a couple different ways as simply as possible. A lot of it is really simple, if you wanted to follow it step by step you could probably be making your own stuff in 30 minutes or maybe less, depends on how good i am. I'll cut it down to the raw.

The big things that slowed down my learning were: rough writing... I had to rewrite it or study it; being forced troubleshoot... thats the biggest waste of time, i had to go back and see what i missed. I missed a lot because it was hard to juggle all the files and scripts; and what really bothered me was wondering... what Can be changed, I wasted a lot of time experimenting to find out what does what. I'll try to tell a beginner what they could chang and how to do it... as far as my knowledge covers... maybe save someone from having to experiment.

been four days, does anyone think this is what they need...
