View Full Version : Soldier sizes
How do you change the size of the soldiers (not the units) Does it have to do with the skeleton?

Yes. Goto the file desc_models (skeleton files anyway) iirc, change the scale ratio to .75 or whatever and look and see if you like it.
You also need to add a scale command to re-size the mesh in descr_model_battle.
put in :
scale 0.75 ( or whatever )
The scale value needs to match the amount you scale the skeleton ( see below ), or you will get a strange stretched or squashed result.
Next, you need to actually scale the skeleton itself. Download the XIDX toolkit, and extract all the animations. Then, using the XIDX_shell batch file, you can scale the actual skeleton file. Then you re-build.
Beware though....this will effect EVERY model using that skeleton, not just a single model. If you want to make a specific skeleton, you need ot make a copy of the skeleton file, re-name it and THEN scale it. It's not hard to do really....just a bit fiddly!

That's great. Thanks guys. In the shell.bat, are there any other attributes you can apply to the skeleton other than scale?:idea2:
You can use it to re-set which animation the file looks at and all sorts of things. This is the core file for animation swapping.... but you need 3DS Max to actually make new animations. The tool breaks down and re-builds the animation PAK files and makes these things possible.
