Well, I am now numbered amoung the legions of people who have had their iPod stolen. I've had it for less than a year too! What's worse is that I am watching someone apparently putting the contents of my iPod on a shared broadcast(It has a five person limit, so I can't really tell). I feel terrible and I know I can't do much about it.

I got it as a gift a few months ago and I was JUST getting used to it. Now I have to go back to my CD player. ~:pissed:

It's not always a good idea to go waving your expensive electrical goods about in public. In the UK iPods, mobile phones and other mobile computing devices are regularly stolen, mainly because their owners were not very discreet when handling them. It shouldn't be like this, but that's the world you live in.

Someone got killed for his iPod in the middle of Brussels' central station a while ago...

My iPod is so old, tatty and generally useless that it'd hardly be worth stealing... Someone probably will anyway though sooner or later.

Actually, I try not to make a big deal about it when I go about. In fact, it got stolen from my dorm because my RM wouldn't lock the door. I was not the only one robbed.

The iPod was a very sentimental piece in that it was given to me at an important time. Oh well, I hope it gets found. I am going to wait a week or so. If there's no luck, I'll just get a new on and keep paranoid.:spider:

That why I don't have a Ipod, it's useless to me, since I only listen to, say, 20-30 songs, which I just keep on my comp.

I did. The whole campus was robbed. Well over thousands of dollars in laptops, iPods, wallets, and other stuff was stolen. Not one person saw a damn thing.~:mad

GaTech/Atlanta sucks. Had that been a murderer, I would have been dead. I've set up an ear-busting shriek alarm on the door and my footlocker. I'm also getting a better lock.

You going to GaTech? Graduated from there in '92. I stayed in Techwood, back when it right next to the ghetto. Always fun coming home drunk at night. Fortunately, most of the muggers knew we were just broke students. Which dorm are you in?

Matheson. It's much nicer all over Atlanta, but it still sucks. No one has seen any trouble so far other than the kind of crap I mention.

Ah my friend I know the feeling. Oh do I know the feeling.

11th Grade- 60 dollars stolen from my wallet in gym.

12th Grade- A 150 dollar and a 100 dolar calculator stolen from my backpack during class.

Freshman Year of College: My 300 dolar pair of glasses stolen.

Moral of the Story: People always steal stuff. I keep my laptop chained to my my bed now.

Heheh, you don't get that problem around here where i live, near Huddersfield. Nearly everyone has a legally bought MP3 player already, even the drug dealers. You can go about in public listening to your MP3 player without problems.

I hear the situation isn't so good in the cities though, or down South.

hmm i;v lived in london all my life, and nver had anything stolen, but in honesty i'v never had anything much worth stealing, and i look both poor and big enough not to have been worried by muggers, i once had someone try to steel a wheel of my bike, but got back to it just in time :2thumbsup:

Screw the stolen goods. The thing I worried about is who the hell broke in. No one even knows whether they were Tech students or not. This thing was planned out well by a group of people. They went hall by hall, building by building cleaning out. It's obvious they were in kind of a hurry, seeing as the tended to pick up empty wallets and left large rolls of bills that were in plain sight.

gym is always the perfect spot... though my entire bag with possessions worth of 200$ (mostly hired books) and sumthing very dear to me... a ww2 novel of 100 pages got stolen in the middle of the damn school... with 100s of bags mine was the only one gone... damn the only one ever stolen in the school i guess... and that damn school doesnt want to believe that it was no coincidence, but that the person tried to get back at me for sumthing ive done... oh well... i never got the bill for the books only had to buy a new bag and write a new story...

though many things were stolen during gym... and they still wont lock the door

IPODs suck anyway....now you have a chance to buy an mp3 player from one of the dozens of competing companies that are actually better machines than that over-hyped, over-priced piece of fashionable crappy electronics.

consider this a life lesson.

yup... get sumthing like ecko... i thought that it was sumthing like that... its bigger but has more space, you can watch movies and s less expensive... the only drawback however is that it is harder tp handle.

I never considered having more space as an advantage....just a silly marketing ploy.

the latest IPODs are going for 20 Gb of space and more......I don´t have that much space filled with music in my personal computer at home!!! Do I really need to lug around that much?

I have a player from creative that has 1 Gb capacity...this is good for about 11 or 13 albuns depending on sound quality....all I have to do is change the album lineup about once a week.....

why pay absurd prices for more space you don´t need?.....I could see a reasonable motive for 2 or 3 Gb capacity....but something like 20 or 30 Gb is just being silly.....it´s tecnology for the sake of tecnology....

I quite enjoy taking all my music with me. It's useful.

My cousin got his K800i stolen today... The dangers of having a sexy phone.

Well, I guess it's gone. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alterantive? I liked the iPod because I could store all kinds of media, but rival mp3 players that have similar capabilities seem to cost the same.

Aw f*** me, I should start locking the door more often now. Thank you for making me paranoid.
How can you live in DC and NOT lock your door often?!

i know what you mean, i also think it is just stupid... but hey you need sumthing to brag about when the most exciting thing in your life was seeing the exorcist...

that ecko or whatever it is called has alot of space... but i can also store movies and the average movie take a few GB so you can use the space properly.
