I downloaded patch 1.3 and 1.5 for rtw and the game wont work!

Yes.

And I woud try downloading 1.2 before doing 1.3 and 1.5. A quick Google search should be able to get you to find 1.2.

nevermind...i reinstalled everything...lost my mods:shame: ...and now the game works fine

you can install the mods now also but you have to install every update off rtw first then all the mods for the game after:2thumbsup:

Is there any special way to install the patches? Granted, they are self-installing but I've been having problems like this myself. The game crashes whenever I hit the "end turn" button or sometimes it doesn't even start up. I've re-installed RTW so many times already and I have no mods installed. I just can't figure the cause of the problem so I've given up trying to patch my copy and just be contented with plain v1.3.

Tip for people playing mods:

Keep an install of RTW clean so you can patch it. When you want a mod, copy the entire RTW folder and install the mod there.

The RTW patches are a nightmare for multiple installs on one computer (a must for creators of mods, testers, and players). Instead of proposing an install path, they insist on one path. There's even a version check iirc. I hope the M2TW patches will be more liberal like those of other games.

RTW v1.2 patch is necessary before installing v1.3 or v1.5.
