Ahoy,

Just dropping a quick line to announce the start of a new mod for RTW that a friend and I are working on: The Western Colonies.

TWC will focus on the struggles of the Greek and Phoenician colonies in the western Mediterranean against the "barbarian" hordes. Featuring a focused and expanded campaign map of southern France, eastern Spain and western Italy, several new or reworked factions and a restructured economic development tree, our goal is to represent the period between 450 and 300 BC.

The current faction list is:

The Barbarians:
Etruscan League (Skirmishers and Axemen supported by elite hoplites and cavalry)
Celto-Ligurians (Unconfirmed, possibly hardy light infantry and skirmishers reliant on ambush)
Gauls (Largely as RTW)
Iberians (Largely as RTW)

The Greeks:
Antipolis and Nikala (Basic hoplites, noble cavalry and hoplites, Ligurian auxilia)
Messalia and Tauroeia (Basic hoplites, noble cavalry and hoplites, Ligurian/Gallic auxilia)
Emporion and Agathe (Basic hoplites, noble cavalry and hoplites, Gallic/Iberian auxilia)

The Carthaginians:
Sardinian Phoenicians (Largely as RTW Carthage)
Baelaric Phoenicians (Elite Carthaginians supported by Iberian auxilia)

Our campaign map is underway (thanks largely to Monkwarrior and his tutorials ;) ) and we've started laying out the new economic and building trees. I'll be posting screenshots, probably tonight, of the map so far.

One area where we could definately use some help is with research, especially into the Celto-Ligurians, specifically what they looked like and how they would have fought, and suggestions as to what to use for symbols and colours for the Etruscans and Ligurians.

Cheers,

Barret
