Mongols in Kilts... :inquisitive: :laugh4: :laugh4:
I guess this image must be a placeholder in a beta release...
The next shot is interesting though, it seems that they have made the Alps a little more complex as compared to the RTW map...

But they are still ignorant of Italian Climates .... North Italy and central ranges should be all snow covered...

Pavise crosbowmen?

I think they might be Crusader units, that you can only recruit when going on a crusade. They look the part though :D
Pavise crosbowmen?
I agree - pavise's are so large, they are no use in melee (hence the representation of them on the soldiers' backs). Plus, there is something wooden looking hanging from their left - a crossbow? And that "hunkered down" fighting style seems to be how CA are representing archers in melee.

Yea! Forts are back!

That's the hilt for the sword(I think that's what it is called)
The thing that you have your sword in.
Nice screens. Landscape looks good, architecture is very nice IMO.
Can anyone tell me which faction the knights belong on the top left picture (with the green-white-green flags)?

Also what is the order of factions on the Pope screen? (on the left, second row from top)
http://www.gamestar.de/aktuell/screenshots/medieval_2_total_war/52236/medieval_2_total_war_p3.html
HRE, France, England, Spain, Venice, Sicily (?), ? Portugal, Scotland, Danes, ? Sweden, Poland, Hungary

1) The Green-and-White flag belongs the the Milanese faction.
2) I think the factions are as follows: HRE, France, England, Spain, Venice, Sicily, Milan, Scotland, Denmark, Portugal, Poland and Russia(??).
I might have mixed up the Danes and the Polish, as they're flags are of similar colour, and it's hard to make out the emblem. If I have made any errors please correct them :P

Actually I'm pretty sure green and white is Hungary
And yeah, what is with these celtic Mongols?
And you'd be wrong. Hungary is green and orangey colour. Milan is green and white. In one screen it shows the cursor over the green and white faction and it says "Milanese".

Hungary.

Whatever. Anyway those elephants look ridiculous. If CA is going to put a weird unit in they may as well give some thought as to how it would actually have looked. It's depiction of these elephant cannons is just silly. How can they have had the muzzle of the cannon right next to the mahout's head?

You mean scabbard. :beam:
Hungary is green and orangey colour.
Hungary has pinkish colours. Every totalwar fan should know this by know. ~;p ~;)
Also, the green-white is indeed Milanese, thx. Did anyone noticed the smiley below the Milanese coat of arms?
Russia cannot be on the list since they are orthodox. Hungary is the last, that is for sure (see pinkish colour). The only faction I am not sure about is the third from the right, blue cross on white background.

I assume they have ear-plugs. :eyebrows: ~;p

The knights are HRE actually but the guys in the back are Milan

I doubt it's going to make a difference if you have the cannon facing backwards (and why would you want that?). It's only going to be a tad quieter.

I think it actually makes quite a bit of difference not to have one's head situated right below a thing which creates tremendous noise, smoke and heat.
I noticed the Spanish have a unit called "Tercio pikemen". Presumably they are a cut above the others.

TO be freank im actually very glad CA included the canon-elephants. Not for any gameplay reason but for the interesting options it will offer to imaginative modders. I think theres alot of potential there to make some really cool things out of that unit.
Im also really looking forward to seeing exactly how the polish(?) warwagons work for the same reason.
Cannon Elephants! I still can't believe they put them in, I have no idea if they will be any good or if the are realistic but my god, the idea is so freakin' cool!!
I can imagine Cannon Elephants being targeted by missiles rather swiftly :D
I don't care if they are the least cost effective, most vulnerable unit in the game, Cannon Elephants!, name any other MTW(2) unit that is anywhere near in terms of sheer coolness.
Great Basilisk or whatever it is called. It might be just as big as an elephant including all the wood support. ;)

This is Portugal's coat-of-arms. I'm 100% sure!
I'll play "All-Elephant Army" :)
