I've recently converted to Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning Eleven in USA) from EA's FIFA series. The lack of a license to use real players, and even the name, both turned me off PES. I've been playing FIFA for years until his time I decided to give PES a go on the PSP....
:jawdrop:
PES is just so much more realistic than FIFA, no more of the repetitive gameplay and goals. And player stats finally make a difference. It is a shame about not having all the real players though.
Anyway, I was just wondering how many people play FIFA and PES. I know this thread should probably be in the Arena but I can't post there.:shame:

PES rules.:beam:  :2thumbsup:
I got converted watching two mates play on PS2. It just delivered all the drama, thrills and spills of the real game, and I found it as addictive and "Oh my God the suns coming up"ish as Civ2.
On PC there is supposed to be a mod available for all versions that fixes all the unlicenced players and team names.
The real game is in the Master League mode. Your players actually learn in the training sessons, and short sharp passing in games will pick up team confidence. I can also remember the thrill of finally being able to afford Pavel Nedved, the impact he had on my Partic Athletic Ravens team and my jaw dropping when he broke his leg in his second game for the team.
PES proves God is a computer game nut and taught me to swear like the best International Managers.

There's no contest - anyone who doesn't like PES can't be a real football fan.
Plus PES6 is out this week!

I've seen a mod that works on the PS2 as-well, someone got it through an e-mail.
Anyway, onto my next point. Would anyone here be interested in starting a mod for PES6? There's a few mods, such as a World Cup mod and ones with licensed players for certain teams, but would anyone be interested in starting a mod which added totally authentic players and strips etc for every team. With a reasonably sized team, it could be easily manageable.
The reason I'm asking here at a TW site is because I know modding is a big thing in the TW series (I love EB), and thought if some of you were also PES fans you might be interesting in modding it.
So, anyone interested?

I am a huge Fifa fan and I have tried Pro Eleven Soccer (1st strike, calling it soccer). I love Fifa's manager mode and how immersive that is. I also love the use of real players, and I love playing with the likes of Lampard, Drogba and Terry throughout thier careers in that manager mode.

For the Last year or two, my friend comes to my house to wait for his dad to pick him up and go home. We have played Pro Ev every day while we wait. It is definetly better than Fifa.
Pro Ev is realistic in some ways, but totally unrealistic in others. It's the perfect balance.
My friends is a master of unbelievable long range shots. On a good day he can take centre, pass to Henry and make the ball hit the bar on the way in. It's my job to immediately charge him down and stop him getting any kind of Angle on his shot.
On the other hand, I am very good at sharp passing and the final through ball to Martins when I am Inter Milan.
I love Pro Ev because of the different styles of play each player has and that each player has the perfect XI to suit their style. Its so fun in that way. Fifa has never had anything close to this kind of gameplay. As long as Pro Ev never lose that they will always be far superior to Fifa. Fifa 2005 was the closest Fifa to Pro Ev IMO although it was still not as good.
P.S. Pro Ev 6 also has a Screenshot of Celtic players, Zurawski and Gravesen on the back! :beam: Woo hoo!

I dont really play footie games much but when i do it varies which one i prefer. Both games have had their good years and their bad years, oddly enough a lot of my mates buy both every year and are actually saying Fifa is the better game this year (and a vast improvement over the '06 version).
Just goes to show, nothing is set in stone, must be all that practise the Fifa devs are getting from developing 10 versions of the game (Xbox, X360, PS2, PS3, PSP, GC, Wii, DS, GBA, PC, MAC?) + world cup and euro cup versions

Pro Evo is the better game without a doubt, but my football game collection consists of six games. Five of them are FIFA. The most recent I've got is FIFA 04, and that was terrible.
So, this year, I'm finally going to convert to Pro Evo and get the game. I heard that in this game, they're licensed with real team names and everything? It won't change my decision too much; I was just wondering if that rumour was true?

Licensed for Dutch Eredivisie, Spanish League, and Seria A. Fake leagues for England, France and Germany. Plus lots of national teams, some of which have licenses.
PES is just so much more realistic than PES. In FIFA you pass the ball round like a machine to score, always the same...
I hate the overdefensive AI in PES though. And there's nothing wrong with calling it PES, its quicker to type.

I think people will get what you mean anyway. Don't worry - most of us are fairly intelligent. ~:)

I don't know IrishArmenian for me taking the likes of Cellini, Ximelez and Barota and some 16 year old kid with no stats from 2nd Division to being able to flog the likes of Lampard, Drogba,Terry and the rest of Chelsea's trillion pound line up in the WEFA Champions Cup Final gives PES the edge.
The burning issue is, and you seem to be a mad Chelsea supporter, will the Chelsea magic from last decade in the form of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet polish off on Leeds United and get them back into the top flight or is second division inevitable.

It's so cool when you're browsing to hear "GOAL!" and see a pop up telling you Feyenoord has just scored their second against FC Twente.
