On behalf of the Ramadan Fest celebrated among Muslims today, I hereby would like to wish all great and friendly members, their families, ones they miss, land they live on and this whole world we owe our existence to, at least a tidbit peace and love for today. I hope it will be even better.
Forget what you believe in, shall you have peace and feel the love today.
Salaamin-aleykum.

Wohoo, now that Ramadan is over, we can drink alcohol beverages.
I see you're familiar with here; you were on holiday or ?
We went to Bodrum in 2001 (actually, it was a one week cruise with a Gulek boat, which departed in Bodrum), to Antalya (8 days) in 2002 and to Kusadasi (11 days) in 2003 (our best holiday ever!).
I must say, we had alot of fun in Turkey and we met some fine Turks over there.
I'm sure we'll go back one day. ~

Wohoo, now that Ramadan is over, we can drink alcohol beverages.
From when in Islam is allowed alcohol except if you are in travell?:book: I know that Turkey is different, but...
Well, I thought Koran doesn't approve alcohol consumption, but does not forbid it neither. I think it's a matter of interpretation :book: . But I must admit I'm no specialist.

Kur'an does not approve alcohol consumption at all. I can also can not tell if it is forbidden in the book. Even though it is not forbidden in the book, Muhammed may have done it, which counts as a forbid.
In Ramadan, alcohol consumption is not..hmmm..well favored. And people mostly apply that..It's a time when you rip earthly pleasures off yourself; that's why -any other things you can "a pleasure" added (considering your biological limits, of course...ahem..)

This is insulting. I mean if you intend to read the Kuran, you cleanup yourself, then take the book in your hands. A bottle of alcohol with it? No way.
Argh. I don't want this to turn into an Islamic teachings course.
PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hippie:
Yeah, go eat some good food.
(I couldn't tell if you were joking or not - Beirut)

I thought it was against Muslim law to drink alcohol. Anyway, same to you and all with whom you associate, be it friends, family, coworkers or acquaintences.

Islam is not law in Turkey, IA. People are free to believe and behave the way they wish to. Let's try not to turn this into something Backroom-ish. My only intention using Ramadan as a means was not in order to go pro-Islamic; I used it because it's when we visit our friends, relatives, beloved ones, and taste the most delicious desserts (baklava anyone?) and food. It's a tradition that, against all odds, never got changed, and I'm happy and hopeful that people are still able to show their humanity, they at least are carrying crisps of it.
Beirut, I don't know what wacky means, but I don't think Dariush would intend an offence at me and I see all fellaz here are as good as Muslims at understanding the friendship that Ramadan carries.
P.S. Andres, seriously, Kuran is not a hobby read. You need to tidy up and clean yourself before reading it. I did not say you were insulting. Only such an action would be an insult in terms of Islam.

Oh, I didn't mean in Turkey, I meant while celebrating an Islamic event, one would want to follow Islamic law as much as possible. I am well aware of the secular Turkish government. Yes, Holidays are always good chances to clean uponeself, visit with family (especially large ones, the more the merrier) and eat the delicious cooking of various relatives.
Baklava is delicious, and is also the reason why honey is a gift from God!

We use honey or cheese, but I prefer honey.
I think the general consensus is that Baklava, no matter what it is made with, is a tasty delicacy for all. Agreed?

I do like baklava. It tastes mjummie. But Turkish Delight tastes even better.
Hmmm... sweet Turkey. And you can take that literally...
I bought Baklava especially for Eid. Unfortunately the store I usually buy it in, has closed.
