I'm currently running a Athlon XP 64 3500+, 1GB DDR400, and an Radeon X850XT and I had huge lag (probably like 10 FPS) when I played a custom battle with the cracked demo. It had about 4000-5000 units total. My computer isn't cutting edge technology, but its pretty good and I still can't run the game that effectively with large unit sizes. Most settings I had were mid-high range.

I don't know how many people will be able to experience the "epic battles" that CA promises. That is, unless you enjoy watching big battles as a series of screenshots :laugh4:

Has anyone tried the demo with the custom edited battles and not lagged with large armies?

Hopefully the game code is streamlined in the full game, or I will be fighting with units of 40 instead of 160!

Yup. I played a cracked demo custom battle with 5000 or more men with no lag, or minor when all units were moving/fighting.

What sort of a comp do you have, Lusted?

I get lag, but its my cheap low end GPU, so I'm getting a better one before the release.

Seems like RAM is the primary roadblock for large M2TR battles.

I've read elsewhere that the demo is not optimised to play large battles - this was the same with the BI demo and the RTW demo as far as I recall. We should see better performance in the full game, don't worry!

Thats weird on the cracked demo I had about 4000 men on the field and not much lag (20 fps minimum normally around 30fps). I have a Radeon 9800XT 256mb, a 3.2 Prescott, which is a lot worse than what you have. On the other hand I have 1 gig of Corsair XMS3200 at CAS1.5, so clearly RAM is really important which is great news for me:2thumbsup:
