View Full Version : Good football game?
I'm planning on getting a football game soon, the only problem is what game and for what platform. I have a PS2, and a PC of course. My specs should be able to play any football games around nowadays, though I don't know. To me, if it can play the M2TW demo, it can play anything important:laugh4: . I don't care if its college football or pro, just a good game. Madden 2006 is only 10 bucks, might get that, I dunno about the NCAA games. ANy comments or suggestions? Also, is it true taht you need a controller to play these games on a PC?

Pro evo 6 has just come out mate. It is the best of the best and is the premiership of footie games. If you play the Fifa series it is like playing in the conference compared to it
Are we talking about Football? Or American football?
Madden 2006 is only 10 bucks,
Due to that, I believe we're talking abotut american "football" :shame:

There used to be loads of American football games on the PC, right before EA's Madden series killed them all off. I don't know if there are others still around, but if EA's American football game is anything like their one for FOOTBALL (or soccer as it's also annoyingly known as) then there's definitely room for improvement.

I believe one of the three or four football codes played in the US is the FIFA rules which you call soccer. I recommend that game and Pro Evo rules the silicon realm of this game of football.
Otherwise Madden pretty much has the "Lets play for four or five seconds and have a break, do this four times and then actually use your foot to kick the ball" style of silicon football sown up doesn't it?
I just got pro evo 6 and it is brillian, everything is improved from 5 , the only bad thing is that theres no German league anymore :2thumbsup:
I played Madden once, had absolutely no idea what i was doing (why is that rugby ball so small and being passed forwards?!) but it was quite fun :2thumbsup:

You mean a complete omission of the Bundesliga, rather than just unlicensed
teams? That is surprising. Would you be able to give any more information on
the available teams? [Failing that, I might eventually drag myself towards a
relevant forum if need be.]

I believe winning 11 is better than pro evo ~;)
My master league arsenal side is quite nice, just got a really good keeper in exchange for old, declining and, quite frankly, rubbish, Lehmann. The new guys I have all seem to be peaking at roughly 90, and my defender (or goalie) will actually average ABOVE THenry at his peak. In FIFA, you could get old men performing better than everyone, which is rubbish.
As far as football games go, the only one you should be looking at is ESPN NFL 2k5 for the PS2. Madden doesn't hold a candle to this game, that's a guarantee. Even though it's now 2 years old, you can download updated rosters from some fan sites and transfer via Max Drive or whatever. In any case, it's the game to get. I still play regularly. Check out some reviews or something to get a better idea of the details. You won't be sorry!

My friends and I are starting our first Pro Evo 6(Winning 11) 8 week round robin tournament on Monday night. (Secret mens business, b.y.o beer, with the trophy ready waiting for the victors name to be engraived.) Every controller we have between us except for one, has turned into to a gross malfunctioning piece of plastic and wire often dropped in disgust during their, and our, more jammy temper tantrums.
As you can probably already tell we already take PES far too seriously for middle aged men with heart conditions, so can anyone suggest any tried and tested, cheap and reliable corded PS2 controller makes and models. Preferably for pensioners from the smaller hand crowd?
PES is the most fun REAL MEN can have with their clothes on!
