dl'ed it twice completey, but both times they refused to run. So much for 4players... Torrent aint working for me either as I cannot find a dl link. Only get small stupid files

Downloading now, seems to go allright.

I hit run on that small file and then it opened up for the downloading of the big thing.

When you start the downloaded file (which is a download manager) you will be prompted to specify a download location for the demo. When you set that, your download will start or you will have to wait for a slot (the program checks every 30 secs if there is one). It should start the download automatically, just wait till the bar is full.

dl'ed at average speed of 220kb/s, but the installer refuses to complete the installation: a message pops up with: catastrophical error, seems to happen while it extracts data.pack

i just wasted about 700MB, and as i'm on a 10GB monthly limit i'm not very happy atm :wall:

they could at least make sure they uploaded their file properly :furious3:

i suggest not wasting bandwidth on this (unless someone managed to get this demo installed?)

Help!

I get a message while installing that says something is wrong and I should contact my software provider. It gives me the options to abort, retry, and ignore.

I aborted and tried again and it did the same thing. I retryed and the pop up came back up. Finally I ignored and when I started the game it said there was a fatal error and it would not start.

This is with the 4players download and the modcraft ones. :no:

Aaarrgg! 23.2 Kb/s on gamespot. Why do I bother to pay for broadband? :furious3: This is CA's demo. Why don't they have high speed downloads available on their site? I mean, even car dealers are smart enough to know that they should offer you an incentive to test drive their cars. I'm only downloading this monster to see if it will run on my machine, and if it does, I'll probably buy the real game.

I'm not too optimistic about it running since I don't have a graphics card, but I've been able to run lots of other games, like C&C Generals, Combat Flight Simulator and MTW which are supposed to require graphics cards as well. The "integrated graphics" on my machine run those games just fine.

Aaarrgg! 23.2 Kb/s on gamespot. Why do I bother to pay for broadband?

I switched to BitTorrent for my DL. It didn't improve the speed hugely, but did help somewhat. Took me six hours to DL instead of the 9 1/2 it was going to take via Gamespot.

GamersHell only allowed a single thread at 3-5 Kb.

That German site was a PITA! Had to install their "d/l manager" which required the an alleged system file, 'gdipluss.dll', which I didn't have where it was looking for it on my system.

Found a copy in a Nero folder on my system and copied to the win32 folder, whalla! Cept the d/l manager is only allowing a single thread at 5-6 Kb.

Uggh!

Hello CA if you're listening, would you please in the future upload these Demos and Patches to Usenet. It would make it so much simpler. I could get 3 to 5 Megabits (Mb) download from my ISP and 2 to 3 Mb from my NSP. Provide an NZB file and it'd be SOOOOOOO simple.
