For some reason, especially on Pavia, units engage very stupidly. One time my general charged and the rest of his unit didn't move, my general was in the middle of about 40 crossbowmen by himself! This is a problem with my Zweihanders too. As soon as one man engages in a charge the rest stop running. Its very annoying, especially when you are flanking and only one or 2 guys actually charges into the defending unit.

Any others had this problem? Its worse than in RTW!

Hm, Steveo, i seemed to have had a similar problem, except with the militia halberdiers. They seemed to have been reluctant to attack almost 90% of the time I played that battle, moving slowly in combat, and getting mowed down by the voulgers and cavalry. This is probably one of two reasons. 1) it is only a demo, which may have a few bugs in it that hopefully the final game would have fixed by then. 2) the fact that they are "militia" halberdiers makes them reluctant to engage the enemy. Other wise... I DON'T KNOW lol.

Well you can;t really expect engaged units to all break away from their current fight to run into another.

If youre talking about what i think then its a minor glitch thats been present since RTW. What happens is if your men are scattered about and not in their row formation and then you tell them to charge a unit theyll all charge but once the first troops reach the enemy lines the unit as a whole exits charge mode and enters into melee mode. Often times half or more of a unit hasnt even reached the enemy when the unit enters melee mode and they stop charging and have to slowly walk the rest of the way. It can be very frustrating.

A simple but good way of avoiding this is having your unit regroup before charging. It takes a little more time before you can charge but overall the benefit of a coordinated charge outweighs the extra time it takes for them to regroup.

As for the halberdiers make sure they arent in their phalanx mode. I was frustrated by the same thing until i noticed that they were in their phalanx mode. When i took them out of it they ran and fought like a normal unit.

It is frustrating but I don't think it is a bug, at least in RTW. In RTW when this happened to me, I blamed myself for asking my men to do a foolish charge without regrouping. I was always very careful to regroup and attack. Sometimes holding Alt and attacking seemed to force all your men to attack.

This is a problem with my Zweihanders too. As soon as one man engages in a charge the rest stop running. Its very annoying, especially when you are flanking and only one or 2 guys actually charges into the defending unit.

Do you mean you try to run Zweihanders behind and then charge into the back of engaged enemy? If I think about that, it would look rather silly and a little unrealistic if a unit were to do that in a real battle. Imagine them running in formation around the enemy flank and then told to face the enemy and charge. They are more likely to keep facing the enemy and overturn a flank. Maybe thats why it doesn't work properly when you order them to do it.
