MTW American Mod

I came across a MTW mod that lets you play battles in the American Revolution and Civil War, but I can't get it to work.

I have MTW: Gold Edition, which comes with the Viking Expansion, I went to their homesite and downloaded/installed the Napoleonic Mod, and then the American Mod like they said to do.

But now when I try to start the game, it says "Cannot locate the CD-ROM. Please insert the correct CD-ROM and restart the application." But I have MTW Disk 1 in the drive.

What's wrong? :help:

I think your problem maybe that it's Gold Edition -- Napoleonic and ATW were designed for the original MTW VI with the 2.01 patch, and requires the VI disk to run.

I don't have the Gold Edition myself, so I'm not sure on the solution, but there are some threads in the Apothecary etc that deal with Gold Edition issues and patches etc, so I recommend a trawl through there. GL!

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the Napoleonic mod and the mod for that, America: Total War, both made by the Lordz. If I remember correctly, you need to do more things to be able to properly install the mod. Try reading this: http://forum.thelordz.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5018. Or you could try using your VI disk.

I did try that, but in the Gold Edition, the two aren't separate. The VI disk only has the files needed to install VI. To run the program, you use the MTW Disk 1.

I followed the instructions on that post and got the patch and stuff, but clicking on the icon still brings up "Cannot locate the CD-ROM. Please insert the correct CD-ROM and restart the application.".

The Mod Looks Good, although I never got the chance to play it though (yet) :-( -(

Yay! Way to go -- don't forget to give Napoleonic a good go, too! I never really got into ATW as there's no campaign map, but there's a thriving community for online ATW games, I believe. GL!
