Before I reformatted my comp, when I save a battle when in the battle deployment screen, and then I load it up when im playing the next day, the red loading bar would fill up but then it would instantly exit my game. Most or maybe all my saved battle deployment screens would end up like that, so because of that i just play thru the campaign map, save it there, then its off to battle.
has this happened to any1 else?

Yes thats common, pressing quicksave or saving from the battle screen can often corrupt the save file.

Oh really. I see now, thanks Rythmic.
That's not good.

Anyway, is there any way for the graphics to run smoother when thousands of soldiers fill the screen? Besides buying a new graphics card.
Will turning down the graphics in the options menu do it?

Turning down unit sizes should make smoother battles, but sometimes its random. Some days you have clear and flowing graphics, others laggy and blocky graphics.

Also to avoid losing a valuable campaign, save the turn before you launch a vital attack, so you can load the next day (or whenever) and fight the battle. No more crashing!

There are about 100 open save spots, Save your game frequently and you will usually have something to go back to.

I don't remember the exact graphics settings, but turn everything else down before dropping unit size. I could run huge unit sizes on my old computer with very little problem up until the 4 army battles hit.

Also, if you have less than 15-20 save files your files will generally not corrupt, any more and their is a high chance that they will.

Solution: Back-up your save games in a safe location on your harddrive.
