I'm considering purchasing a new case fan for the rear of my pc but, as usual, I have a few queries.

Firstly is a case fan for the rear of a pc supposed to exhaust are or suck it in. Ideally I want it to exhaust hot air and dust.

Secondly I have a case similar to this one - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/chenbro_4.html. It has a funny green thing on the back that is supposedly a 120mm fan mount but i've looked at it carefully and I don't see how it could work. This is the fan i'm considering - http://www.lowestonweb.com/products/info.asp?e=6BC6F868-5128-44B6-8D4F-72EE9A2B3FEA - if anyone knows whether it would fit that would be a great help.

Cheers in advance :clown:

The "green thing" is a snap bracket, so you shouldn't need any fan mounting screws - and incidentally, your fan should work just fine. You'll want a fan in that location to blow the hot air from in the case to the outside, so install it with the fan blade pitch oriented correctly. Don't worry if you get it in backwards at first, just pry the snap hooks outward and pull out the fan. Flip it over and try again, things should be fine.

Cheers for the info Geezer, its a great help. Hopefully the fan should prevent my new graphics card from disappearing under a blanket of dust like the last one. :2thumbsup:

Get the largest fan you can home there. Why? Rule of thumb only: big fans can move the same cubic volume of air (cooling) at a lower rpm. A lower rpm means less noise.

Fans aren't the most expensive part of your PC, spending even 50% more money on quality is probably within the reach of everyone who can afford a PC.
