I wonder why it is that CA decided not to implement regencies for if your king dies and all successors are under age.

Though it's a bit odd to look at regencies from a gameplay perspective alone, I think there's good reason not to.

If another faction has killed the king and all of eligible age/family, then that faction has no option to go child-hunting as well. Therefore, through regencies, a family could continue to exist for an infinitely long time (child-king comes to power, has a child, is killed, new child grows up, comes to power, has a child, et c.), making faction elimination a chancey prospect rather than a clear-cut event.

Yeah but the eldest son of the King is the heir automatically (or he should be) so if the King dies when the crown prince is two an uncle or cousin would become regent, this happened in the real world and shouldn't be to hard to implement in the game.

I agree with Tamur here. Regencies did exist, but gamewise it would be a nightmare. You would have to take ALL the lands of that faction and hope that their armies impale themselves on your pikes. It would make the game more tedious, in my opinion.

And Aracnid, it is a great idea, but in M2TW, you still have the option of choosing the heir you want. Imagine having a capable uncle and when the son grows up, he appears to be a loony, you would have a loony for king and a great uncle who's a general. I'd rather skip the son then. ~:) In RTW, I always let the youngest be heir. That way, I can build him up and when he becomes top dog, I have an excellent King.

I do like your idea though. ~:)
