View Full Version : EB working with 1.6?
Some time ago I saw a tutorial here about a guy who got EB to work with 1.6 and he had a very thorough tutorial on it. And this was on an older version of EB for 1.2. So am I crazy and imagined it or am I sane?:dizzy2:

I think so. 1.6 is BI, and I really don't think 1.2 RTW is compatible with 1.6 BI. Perhaps you mean RTW 1.5, then yes you can make it compatible, though its a bit dodgy.

Well I remember it being 1.6 but my memory is failing me, so could I get it with 1.5? I know that .80 is coming so I want to get into the feal of EB.

You're hallucinating. EB isn't for RTW at all, it's for MTW.

Hahahaha! I'm not stupid (or am I?) I know that EB is for RTW. OR are you hallucinating?

1.5 is RTW. 1.6 is RTW:BI. If you have BI 1.6, then RTW is version 1.5.

You may be confusing things. EB currently only works on 1.2 (any attempt to run it with 1.5 or 1.6 will result in endless CTDs), but when 0.8 comes out it will be compatible with 1.5. Mods that work for 1.5 are very easy to make work with 1.6 (it's as simple as deleting/renaming a folder).

Yes. Yes. I know all of this I know about EB,modding, and different patches. Its just that I remember that I saw a tutorial here about how to do this.
I might be crazy!:wall:

There was in fact a way to "downgrade" 1.5 to 1.2 involving forcing the 1.2 patch over the game somehow. Though it twas not stable nor supported by the EB team. I don't know how exactly to do it, or where the thread was. You are not crazy.

Your confusion about your sanity, though, isn't quite sane.

This was tongue in cheeck, for those who wonder.
I'm really looking forward to the 1.5 port. My RTW CD is damaged (without getting scratched seemingly) and while I could still play with them, reinstalling always ended in error. I'd have to rebuy if I want to play RTW or any mod.
Thing is I'm planning on buying the Gold version for the many mods that are or will be released for it, and Gold is 1.3 onwards. So I won't be able to play the current build of EB
Lesson: always keep a copy of your RTW install.

What about manually deleting everything, then restarting your computer, reinstalling the game, then trying to uninstall it again, restarting your computer again, and finally installing RTW again?...
I've had some uninstalling/reinstalling trouble too, and the above mentioned approach worked fine for me.
Of course, be sure to make a back up of the original RTW file folder, just in case you're dealing with something completely different than I was and would then find out that you couldn't install RTW anymore after trying my suggestion...

Uninstall/reinstall problems... I had one that I am still confused about. I uninstalled, then tried to reinstall and it said I had detected a more up-to-date version of RTW and cancelled the install. Took me for ever to figure out...

Actually, the way to do is to.
1:Make a giant Z sign on the ground, then put a circle around it.
2:Download Yuri.
3:Put the computer on the circle
4:Say "I blame Telekos, Olaf, and Dayve 24 Times.
5:Have fun with your super computer.
If this doesn't work I blame Dayve, Telekos, and Myself.

Interesting solution, maybe something for the 'help with RTW' forum bit? :laugh4:

I gather that manually uninstalling the program would work, but don't forget to do this by using the control panel of your computer (then the program is 'deleted' from the list of progams in which an installer looks to see if it's already there before installing it).

We all know that the solution, to whatever the question, is 42.
This Ultimate Answer can be obtained through the slightly off question: 'What do you get if you multiply 6 by 9?' - The conclusive evidence for this statement was delivered during a game of Scrabble, in which the question formed itself by pure chance. Sadly however, we have to keep in mind that, though clear as it may seem, the question itself might have been incorrect, in so far as that the flaws hadn't been yet ironed out. All because of the pure misfortune that the computer designed to do so was destroyed 5 minutes before the final read out...
If you want a more detailed description of this computer's specs (that really is one for the 'It's bliss when...' thread), ask Slartibardfast, he is one of the designers of it.
