Hoy hoy :2thumbsup:
I recently downloaded the newest M:TW2 Demo and got back into the swing of things with the Total War genre after a long break. It's amusing trying to use this camera system after being used to playing WoW for so long. Hehe, anyway I just thought we could use a thread detailing those moments when you think "wow that was actually pretty smart of the AI to decide to do that." So here's mine, feel free to add yours.
Otumba was the battle. Since I was pretty clunky in my movement of my troops and my on the fly decisions (and I hate pausing) I actually ended up losing this battle three times before winning. On the third try, which was my best try until the fourth when I just dominated the Aztecs, I was down to only a few units.
I had my General's bodyguard which only had a dozen or so remaining cavalry, a half stack of mercs and my crossbowmen. I was situated on the West side of the little cliff facing at the base of the hill attempting to rally all my remaining troops. I didn't have time to get them to the top of the hill because the Aztecs were coming towards me with a frontal assault force. Sadly, in the confusion I'd marched my reinforcements meandering into the Aztecs until I realized where they were and they were cut down, and at the time merely distracting the main guard of the enemy.
The computer situated their few units of melee behind their Archers and began harassing my obviously outclassed army with ranged attacks. Without even a moment's notice they sent two units around up above on the cliff to flank me. They left one unit of Warriors behind the Archers, so when I attempted to charge their archers they retreated behind their Warriors, and my General's Guard had to retreat again while I watched bleakly while the two melee units charged up and down the cliff ridge straight into my feeble crossbowmen (poor blokes).
So gentlemen, what have you? :2thumbsup:
