Would any of the members who already has the game be kind enough to post the "missing" faction unit rosters? (missing in a sense that they are not previewed on ign.com)

I am especially interested in the Hungarain unit roster  but all the other "missing ones" would be highly welcomed (i.e. Moors, Egyptian, Portugese, Spanish, Milanese, Venician, Scottish, Polish and Danish :beam: ).

Thank you.

Thanks. It also might be worth mentioning that the Timurids (an unplayable faction similar to the Mongols) get Elephant Artillery. Yes, really. Elephants with cannons on their backs. Guess CA had to one-up the chariot ballistas of BI somehow.

norse war clerics?
:2thumbsup:

Because of the tradition for the nordic clergy to go to war I suppose... They were generally not very peaceful.

If they are 'just' another sort of heavy cavalry I think I will like them. If they are are small group of heavy cavalry with bonus to something, then I will like them too.
But anything like the BI priests and I will dislike them.

I would say that the Hungarian roster seems awfully strong. Lots of quality cavalry and nice enough infantry. But Battlefield Assassins and Pavise Spearmen??? Return of the Battlefield Ninjas (Hashishin doesn't count, they were lousy)? And Pavise Spearmen? What is going on there?

War Clerics are just another heavy cav unit by the looks of it, but armed with Maces and with more Holy style helmets. They're not Bi style priests.

Thank you peer.

Hungarian roster looks very interesting.

Bosnian Archers
Slav Levies
Croat Axemen

wow

Transylvanian Peasants

wow ~D

Battlefield Assassins

wow ~

Pavise Spearmen

wow

Hussars

perhaps a bit too early for them ...

Magyar Cavalry (horse archers)
Hungarian Nobles (horse archers)

double wow ~D

:knight: :knight:

All in all it is really unique and looks very interesting. Somewhat lacking of heavy infantry but that is no surpirse, on the other hand lots of unique light infantry (though I wonder what use will they be), battlefield assasins, and of course the horse archers. ~;)

Thx again. ~:)

Then I like them... But at the same time they could be redundant, though their maces should help against other heavy cavalry. Who can forget the pwnage Gothic Knights would dish out in melee with other knights.

The unit list is the same as Poles published in September (later was illegal).

Do Polish and Hungarian units still have Mongol faces?

I have the game since today, and although my poor PC won't run it that well (I'm going to upgrade it soon), I'll make a MedievalUnitGuide (like the Rome one I made in the past) in the weekend. It will probably take me some time, but at least you know it's coming.

Go for the Turks, quite a dynamic area, you'll face the Byzantines, Egypt, if you carve through Constantinople you can look forward to facing off against Hungary, and you'll eventually fight the Timurids and Mongols.

Sounds like quite a festive experience to me. Anyway everyone else will be playing France or England, so you can get some extra experience with the Eastern factions.

Wow, Hungary sounds way better than it was thought to be.

Everyone thought it would be a generic clone army with units stolen from a bunch of factions but they sound really unique. I for one cannot wait to try them now.

Which unit replaced the Szekely?

The unit rosters seem a bit different from the original MTW. Egypt and the Moors, in particular seemed to have gained a unit of heavy infantry or two and lost some light offensive units. I remember Egypt having a lot of light infantry and lots of melee/archer hybrids.

One of these it appears.

Magyar Cavalry (horse archers)
Hungarian Nobles (horse archers)
I'm leaning towards the Magyars as they sound light and the Nobles sound medium. And given that the superfluous Horse Archers have been removed it seems the Magyars are the ones to look for.

I think the Magyar Cavalry will replace the Szekelys, after all Szekelys were actually Magyars ethnically, they just lived (live) in Translivania.

Border Horse, sweet!
They were missing from that Polish preview of the Scots.

For those of you who don't know, they were probably the finest light cavalry of western Europe. Situated near the English-Scottish border they made full use of the lawlessness and mutual enmity to ride out and rob entire towns. Fascinating setup really. What they got up to would make the Mafia look like inadequate schoolyard bullies. Robberies with hundreds of men taking part happened quite frequently. It was just another way to earn a living to them, not all that disreputable even.
The other side or their own, it didn't matter too much.

The English should probably have them too, their loyalties were a mater of convenience, not nationalism. Scottish borderers rode with the English invaders just as often as opposing them (if not more often). Nor were English borderers shy of riding with the Scots.

Well Border Reivers maybe, but not the pathetic-looking Border Horse they have in the game. I'm shocked they didn't make a decent Border Reiver equipped with steed bonnet, padded jak, lance, riding boots and armed with the small crossbow or riding pistol and on their trusty hackney and a dismounted equivalent or footlowne armed with a bill and longbow.

PLaying as the Scots now and it seems fine, don't know how we'll do in the later stages though as most of our units are available early.
