I've been looking around on the net and finding some strategies for each clan, for example: (playing as Takeda)
1) ally with the Hojo and Imagawa then attack the Uesugi and Rebels above them
2) ally with the Imagawa and Uesugi then attack the Hojo
3) ally with the Hojo and Uesugi then attack the Imagawa

I had a plan and it went like this:
West: (playing as Takeda)
ally with the Imagawa and Hojo, attack the Uesugi directly above the Takeda, take that land and then take the rebel lands above that. then turn on the Imagawa and take the land they have next to the Takeda land, after taking that land take the Hojo land.

East: (playing as Takeda)
simply take Mori land, until you can take the Shimazu land on the mainland, then return to taking Mori land. meanwhile, take the rebel islands behind the Takeda land. once both East and West sides belong to the Takeda smash the Oda. once the Oda lands are now under Takeda control attack the Uesugi. after unifying all of mainland Japan and the little islands around it attack the remaining Imagawa (if they're still there) then move on the Shimazu. once you conquer the Shimazu, victory!

can anyone help me with strategies for the other Clans?

Takeda: Abandon those provinces by Mori. Attack Hojo starting from first turn and take them out in a year or two. Wipe out Uesugi. Build mines. Take out Imagawa and then Owari+Mino. Take out Rebel Monks. By this point you should be powerful enough to steamroll through rest of Japan.

Hojo: Attack Mutsu first turn. Take rest of Uesugi provinces. Build mines. Take Takeda-Imagawa-Oda etc.

All the Eastern clans follow this pattern as well (imagawa, uesugi, takeda, hojo).

For Shimazu I like to go through Shikoku to strike at Harima and Mimasaka. Harima is a wealthy province and you can most likely take out the Daimyo which will make the other provinces easier.

For Oda I like to sit there and tech up mostly, just for a different game.

For Mori I usually take Oda land and then go back and take Shimazu and Shikoku.

For Rebels and Ronin I just try to kill as many Daimyos as I can.

thanks for the info. why abandon the provinces by the Mori?

It's not worth it...the provinces are poor, and you'll have to protect so many that your garrisons will cost more than the amount you'll get back, and loyalty is so low that you get lots of revolts.

This is for the Original Shogun not Warlord Edition.

Uesugi: Withdraw from the 2 provinces in the east and attack Hojo

Takeda: IIRC it is hard to attack Hojo due to the narrow bridge, hence I expanded on Mori's land without withdrawing from any provinces in the west.

Shimazu: Attack Imagawa and Mori but forego the rebels in the island until you've beaten Oda.

ore if u feel up to it keep at least one whit iron sand deposits .. it helps to fight much as your troops get better and Heavy cav needs armour ! nice to have battle hardend heavy cav ! specialy to mock the Mori ... but be warned you may be outnumberd all the time .. some 10 to 1 ... not the best .. but fortune favors the bold ...
