Norsemen! Do you play Denmark?

Hello,

I was wondering if other people from Scandinavia play as Denmark. Or if you play other countries?
I am from Sweden, but I play them, and it feels really bad having to conquer Sweden with the Danes, since we are arch rivals (not now though).

Lol :laugh4: I'm from denmark.. and actually I woud love to have a more independent Norway and Sweden because that would make it possible to make the Kalmar union.. plus som other nice things ~;)

Denmark seems a powerhouse in my VH/VH English game so far. I was shocked to see them arrive at Antwerp early on. Even more shocked when they attacked me with an army full of dismounted FKs and Huscarls - before I had a single dismounted FK or swordsmen of my own. They seem lightyears away from the stunted and trapped AI Denmark I recall from MTW. So I would encourage any Norsemen out there to play them (and am rather glad the Danes in my game are controlled by the AI and not Norsemen!).

EDIT: Just read Monarch's reply that the Danes took out HRE. HRE died very early in my game too. I'm betting the Danes did it as well.

I'm playing England and even though its only on M/M difficulty I agree with econ, Denmark has taken out the HRE in my campaign, although now I've pushed them back quite a bit on my Eastern border.

After I finish my eng campaign I'm going to decide to just start playing MP, or to do another campaign. If I do do another campaign it'll be with Denmark :beam:

Swedish here and I play the danes.
They are a fun faction IMO.
Slightly viking and slightly medieval.
They are also quite tough to play considering the company next door.
Trade is the key.

The Danes are quite a dangerous faction they get some very strong foot troops early on and their archers are dangerous even up close and due to your position on the map you can easily expand, the only down side is like france and the HRE you can end up with quite a few neighbours if you push past the rebel castle south of your starting city (hamburg?)

I'm really insulted that Norway isn't an independent faction in the game.. So out of envy to the Danes that actually got their own faction, I chose Spain on my first campaign. Planning to send a fleet of conquistadors to Copenhagen and slaughter those bastards!

What do you mean "not now"? We haven't forgotten how you guys stole Skåne & Blekinge! (just kidding :beam: )

I chose Spain and HRE for my first playthroughs, but my own country is on the short list, and just got bumped up from the feedback in this thread. Sounds interesting.

The Danes have been dominating financially in my Spain-game, though I haven't come into contact with them yet. With the HRE they've been rather docile. They took Hamburg but I beat them to Antwerp. They've gone to war with Poland now, and I'm allied with both, so the north is unlikely to remain quiet for long. If the Danes start looking south I'll need to get the Venetians off my back real quick or get steamrolled.

I'm playing my first game as England on m/m and the Danes appear to be the faction with the most diverse units so far. Huscarls, Norse Swordsmen, Axe wielding maniacs (not sure about that one), psychotic heavy clergy cavalry, etc... Remind me of all those scandinavians I met travelling (something to do with with expensive beer at home).

They are also very aggressive in my game as well. Right now they are attacking Antwerp and have just about wiped out the HRE. Luckily the Pope is my poodle and excommunicated the crazed scandinavians. So I launched a couple of crusades against them which haws seriously cramped their style.

Got a game going as them at the moment. Just itching for the chance to use those Norse war clerics as they look great. Have taken Scandanavia and Hamburg with the latter being taken off HRE so we're having a nice spat there.

In my England game I agree with everyone else, Denmark looks to be a powerhouse. They besieged me a couple of times in Caen before I flung them back all the way to Hamburg. In the meantime though they took out Poland so now I've taken Hamburg I've split their empire up nicely.

When i played the Original MTW, the only faction i completed the game as was the Danes, i came close witht he spanish, the byzantines, and the egyptians, but the norse power is the only one that could handle it!
