SAO PAULO, Brazil — A woman was released from the hospital a day after she was shot in the head six times in an attack police blamed on her ex-husband, Brazilian media reported Saturday.
Patricia Goncalves Pereira, a 21-year-old housewife, was shot Friday after an altercation with her ex-husband, who was upset because she refused to get back together with him, Globo TV reported.
"I know this was a miracle," Pereira told the TV network. "Now I just want to extract the bullets and live my life."
Doctors could not explain how Pereira survived the attack. The .32-caliber bullets didn't break through her skull and didn't even need to be immediately extracted, doctors said. Pereira also was shot once in the hand.
Police said the ex-husband was still at large, Globo TV reported.

How can 6 .32 caliber shots not penetrate her skull? That is just insane. I'm going to guess that the powder in the shells was bad, or that they were loaded with far too few grains.
Either that or this woman has the thickest skull I've ever hear about. Even a .22 caliber would penetrate once. That's why a double tap from a .22 behind the ear is a preferred mob execution method, because the bullet goes into the skull but doesn't have the energy to penetrate a second time and so just rattles around inside the skull doing massive damage. A .32 ought to have enough energy to penetrate twice and be a "through and through" shot.
Very odd. I'm sure it'll be called a miracle. She's certainly one lucky person.
I hope the husband is being charged with attempted murder, at least.

On the other hand I've heard and read about a Dutch case where a woman died because her angry husband tossed a slipper at her head. Autopsy showed that her skull was as weak as an eggshell :skull:

I was thinking along the lines of the gunpowder had gotten damp. Depending upon the age of the rounds, and that in time many rounds come loose from the seal that is on the casing and in high humidity areas the powder can become damp and therefore weaken in strength. So I would have to agree with you that the powder had gone bad.
Lucky woman that all six rounds had gone bad.
The other possiblity is that God answered her prayers.
