be prepared to face a huge purple unstoppable Hojo foce in the event you decide to play the campaign as Mori or Shimazu. there's no good reason for it (actually there is, but just take my word for it) but it will happen every time without fail. No matter what the difficulty level.
so either be prepared to "cheat" with port-attacks or become bored by prepping for giesha use early.

We ALL know that the Shimazu dianasty is THE only clan that will over come to other clans. Hojo is a big fat blow hard that takes out the small clans and then builds up his army for the big ones...when I am playing shogun by my self, and i come across the hojo clan(while i am the Shimazu clan), the best thing i do is attack the weakest province and sorround hojo's daimyo. Then i attack full force and don't let up. That is how you deal with the Hojo clan! :p

Well, actually I was referring to Shadowkill-san's post and the contrast between it and the "for newbies" topic, but I guess every interpretation is basically valid. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

wow, one newbie in 7 replies. do you ever get that incestuous feeling here? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

It's not a bug, it's a feature
I have seen the Hojo horde, and it seems to me that much of it is YA which can be routed quite easily. This tends to demoralise the units. Killing the Daiymo isn't that hard, but it brings up the problem of having a board full of minor factions and Ronin to deal with.
This is brought up before...what's the definition of newbie? I mean new at what? We're all probably "newbies" at something. For example I'm a friggin' newbie at flight sims and I suck at them. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
You guys have no idea what you've been missing if all you get is the Hojo Horde. I've seen both a Takeda Horde, and a Horde of the other guys in that area. Oddly enough, it didn't affect the otcome of the campaign much, after defending one province 8 seasons in a row before finally running out of troops I gave up. Good thing the last patch fixed the Horde problem for me, eh?

Playing shimazu before the patch I usually got an oda horde. Not long after the message:
'Lord Hojo has been killed in battle leaving no heirs, cos he thought you became Shogun by charging across bridges with only his 9 mates for company'

The 1.12 patch fixes the hojo hoard? I have the patch and I still face hordes.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. I thought the Horde was one of the things the patch was supposed to fix. Actually, it did fix the Hojo Horde for the first couple of times I played after that - the other two clans next to Hojo got Hordes. Now its back to the same as it was before, Hojo whuppin ass.

You need enough dojos to spend all your koku on troops. Killing Daimyos can make the hoard come early.
The reason for the hoard is the rich provinces in the east. If you have Shinano eastword you can train a unit in each province each turn and still develope.
What I need to Know is how do I avoid killing the suicide daimyo without giving up the battle.
