Imagine my suprise when i start a campaign for Portugal and find that there are Portuguese in Pamplona...
I guess it doesn't make a diference as the whole world will be portuguese after i'm done, but this is ahistorical as it gets.
Lisbon was only taken from the moors in 1147, Portugal started from the north, by spliting from Galicia, The Portuguese County, Condado Portucalense, included the lands of the north of present day Portugal down to the river Mondego, or the city of Coimbra.
On my brief search i failed to spot any special link between Portugal and Navarra, or something in the region, that would justify such geographical distribution. Anyone has any idea where they get that from? Besides "game balance".
As for first impressions, they are very early. But I expect to enjoy the game.
