First game of MTW: playing as England, medium difficulty, doing quite well actually, thanks for asking.

Expanding my empire into mainland europe, i decided to capture the rebel province of Bruge. On capturing it, i discovered that it was a veritable hotbed of heretic activity. We are talking 50% heretics, causing an awful lot of unrest. I dont know what sort of ungodly practices had been going on in there prior to my arrival, but it must have been pretty deviant stuff to cause such blatant disregard for God's Law. So much unrest was being caused, that within 2 turns the city had reverted to rebel controlled. This despite immediately building a church, and dumping 3 priests into the stinking hellhole. Ungrateful belgian scum!

So, next time around, i thought it might be prudent to massacre most of the populace. This time, everything was under much better control, and i managed to get the number of heretics right down to a manageable level with the same 3 priests that failed so spectacularly the last time. "Job done", i thought to myself.

And then a few turns later i noticed a heretic had sprung into heathenous being right next to the city. "Hah!" i thought, "no problem, i just so happen to have 3 priests sitting on your doorstep who will relish the chance to punish an unbeliever". And so, i instructed one of the trio to burn the wretch to ashes.

Unfortunately, this weak minded fool of a priest has been smoking the wacky baccy or something, as he was instantly converted to the heretic's point of view. The simpleton would pay for such idiocy! I immediately sent my two remaining priests to remove what was now two heretics from outside Bruge.

You can probably guess what happened. Bruge now sports a grand total of four heretics. Something about this strikes me as being familiar from somewhere... now let me think.... Its the Borg. Its the goddamn Borg from star trek! Gah! Lacking any priests with the name Picard I am understandably slightly reluctant to send in more priests and risk further expansion of this evil cult. So which way to deal with this outbreak of infectious memes? Let us say i no longer have faith in the ability of my priesthood, and am busy training up assassins to use as an alternative method of cleansing.

Actually, now that i think about it, it may have been Antwerp.

how's the piety on your Cardinal? when things went south like that for me, I would just send the cardinal after them, as he has a really high piety rating. :whip:

Dont think i've got one of those. Mine died i think, and the replacement was decidedly non-english.

My first thought was Catharists, but I looked those up and they were in the south of France rather than the northern end. No idea what heresy was rife in that region in the time period in question. It's way too early to be Huguenots. :book:
