Just bought my woman one of these for her birthday-
Toshiba Satellite A100

For a bottom shelf, economy edition laptop, it's not too shabby. It has a 1.6Ghz Intel CPU, 60GB HD, a DVD burner, nice 15" colour screen, and runs XP Media Center (came with it), which, in the ten minutes it took me to set up, I learned to hate with a passion bordering on psychotic. But it's her problem now.
I put in the Floyd Pulse DVD and it looked pretty sweet on the screen. The sound was low but clean. With headphones it was great. This thing beats her desktop machine to dust. Not mine though. ~:smoking:
She has a meeting Wednesday at her new job and she thinks she's taking my given-to-me-for-free PIII 500Mhz/64RAM/5GB-HD dinosaur. She'll be in for a surprise when she gets to the meeting and pulls out the gleaming new Toshiba.
As for me, I'll be eating Snicker's bars for lunch for the next two weeks and there's no M:TW2 for me tomorrow. That's have to wait a few paychecks as well. What can you do, eh?
