Font problems

Hey guys, I installed the demo and after the first go at it, everything was fine... except for the fact that I got my computer to work after 2 months of putting it together. However, my sound driver wasn't installed for my onboard sound.

After installing the soundcard, and I restarted, the fonts got messed up. Now I've been getting some texture problems in the game as well, particularly on the campaign map. Basically, the fonts are so jimbled jambled and pixelated. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? EDIT:: Also, I meant the pixelating was in the main menu, then in game such as the names of towns and the names of the family members.

Also, it might be the sound driver but it could be something else?

My system's specs:

Intel E6700
Corsair xms pc-6400 2gigs
Radeon 1900xtx
Asus p5w dh

If anyone was wondering, it turns out that the Catalyst 6.10 drivers were the problem. I rolled it back to the 6.9 drivers and everything's good.

Yeah those Catalyst drivers seem to cause a lot of people problems. I had no end of problems trying to get them to work myself. And even then I've never been able to get the card to run in AGPx8.

I probably won't buy an ATI card again, apart from the driver problems I've also had issues with the card itself. For one thing, it occasionally fails to refresh graphics properly. A more annoying issue is that it actually redraws some types of graphics a lot slower than my technically supposedly-much-inferior previous card.

My previous card was an nVidia and I never had any problems with it.
