Problem with battles

I bought my copy of the game today and i encountered an unexpected problem.
During the battles i try to use the keyboard and suddenly there is a black screen atop of the graphics which says something about "medieval shell".Of course i can play without the keyboard but it is much more difficult this way.And a lot less fun.Anybody else encountered this problem?

Only thing I can think of is, are you pressing the tilde (~) ? That opens up the console in the campaign game (at least, it did in Rome and I think it's the same), but I'm not sure about battles. And I'm a bit hazy on how to close it - try typing exit, or escape, or quit. Possibly in caps. Or not.

Anyway, hope that helps...

yeah, in the demo that would happen if you pressed tilde ~ or `. Just press that same button again and it should go away.

In M2Tw the '/@ button activates the console

You are right.~brings up the console.The problem is i dont use this key:inquisitive:
