My Current game (MTW w/ MedMod1.85) has a few funny quirks in it. I am playing a GA/English/Early/Hard

First, I had 6 gifts of 1000gp from the pope before the year 1100. (about 1 every other year.) :laugh4:

Next, when I attacked the Irish (900 men vs their 500 men) 4 times after winning the battle (losing about 100 men each time) the game crashed when it was returning to the Campaign map. (Actually the second time it DID make it, BUT did not save before I checked a few provinces, and THEN it crashed.) :furious3:

So I finally just auto-calc and won, but lost 250 men.

Well now the game is up to 1115 or so, I have all of UK, and after watching the Danes take on HRE instead of the rebels in Sweden and Finland, etc, I sent troops over and took Sweden, and continued on to take Finland, Novgorod, Livonia and Smolensk. The Novgorod (aka Kievans in MedMod) took over the rest of Russia :beam:
(With the exceptions of Lithuania) The Poles had taken it, and lost it to an uprising. There are about 5000 good men with 3* and 4* generals in charge. Which the Kievans and the Polls have been burning up armies trying to kill them. :wall: They aren't having much luck yet. :laugh4:

Now about this Heresy..... About 1100, I noticed that I had 8% heretics in Wessex, (about 1-2% everywhere else) So I sent in a Bishop to convert them back.

Over the next couple of years I noticed it was still rising, so I sent in another one to help out.

By 1110 I noticed it was up to 18% and sent in a third Bishop to Wessex to stop the spread of Heresy.

Well now its 1115, and the Heresy is up to 22% in Wessex, and about 3-8% in most other provinces.

Most of my Provinces have 50-65% zeal, but my King has only 1 Piety mark, and the Wessex Governor is also only 1 Piety.

Is the Low piety of my King and Governor combined with the High Zeal of the province what is causing the rise in Heresy?

Why are my Bishops apparently only making it worse? (I did double check the Units_Prod11 to make sure I hadn't accidental done something there, but its ok.)
:help:

Thanks,

Martok

That's pretty unusual, BlackHat. :inquisitive: It sounds like a bug to me. Because unless you modded the game files somewhere, I can't think of any reason why your Bishops would be spreading heresey instead of Catholicism (which by your account is what it sounds like they're doing). Have you tried reloading the game to see if you get the same results?

Ok, ran the save game, and moved all the bishops out, waited a couple years and moved a couple back in. The herricy is dropping agian. Its 1126 now and its down to 17%. It must have been a save game bug somehow, as I did not change anthing, and it looks like it working correctly now.

Thanks,

No problem. I'm just glad you're getting rid of those nasty heretics. ~D

Reminds me of an interesting bug that happened to me concerning heresy.
I was playing as the Flemish (BKB mod) and constructed a heretic church in one of my provinces to build heretic priests to cause disorder in rival provinces.
I knew that the heresy level in my province would increase with the construction of the church, but i was unprepared for what happened. Despite having a few of my cardinals in that province, and several of the surrounding factions throwing in a few priests and inquisitors, the herecy level bloomed to about 90%... thats right 80%.. which was odd considering that its also said that Catholicism was at about 40% putting the total percentage over 100%. things evened out after the destruction of the unholy church, but i found it amusing how this outbreak of heresy defied mathematics...

I have once or twice seen where the religion % did not add up. In my current game, Findland once had 70+ Pagan and 60+ Catholic. (Totaled about 140%)

I think it fixed itself the next turn, or after the next save, as I didn't notice that imballance again. :)
