OK, this is supposed to be a medieval game so I wonder, why there are no moats sorrounding at least castle walls? In those days most of the castles had a moat, filled with water to defend it, but there are none to be found in MTW2. Another thing is the city of Venice, which is standing on a plain with some mountains in the distance!? Couldn't they at least try and put Venice on some custom map or, even better made a small island and put city on top of it?

Build a keep and dig a moat, the return of the Swollen Goat!

You're right though. CA didn't bother too much with the actual settlement layouts, instead they decided to create tons of building models. That's obviously their usual policy :P
Most castles actually stood on solid rocky mountain or hilltops by the way, only those where such a thing couldn't be found were built using moats.

Aye. Moats were mostly used by fortified cities rather than castles. As it is said above, castles were usually built on hilltops and montains.

Ok, then put moats around city walls. It deosn't relly matter, as long they are there. Oh, just for the record...Numerous castles were built on plains, in my country we have tons of them and they are mostly sorrounded with - moats

Thats really dissapointing about Venice. I was looking forward to playing them for that reason, to defend their moat city. I really don't expect CA to render every city completly accurate, but Venice being on an island would have been nice. I would assume then that Constantinople probably doesn't look much differently than any other city then, besides being huge.

I think it would be quite nice to see walls that are not built all the way around the city. Most coastal cities woud probably have had one wall and the the city would be built on the peninsula that the wall cut off.

It doesn't. I've got a couple of screenshots from the siege of Constantinople during the jihad I'm undergoing as the Byzantine Empire. I can post them when I get home from work. It's a huge city, and it's got quite a big wall, but it's only a single wall.
