Is there any cons to buying this game by way of direct2drive, besides the obvious lack of a proper manual in your hands?

I have never used D2D, but the main drawback is the delay in patches. You can't use the regular patch for D2D games, and usually it's a while before the specific patch for the download version comes out. The only one I'm familiar with that was different was one of the later patches for Ghost Recon, which when you installed it had a drop box for selecting "I have the disk version of the game/I have the downloaded version of the game". D2D games don't have a disk check when you start it. If you use the normal patch, it will put the check back in, so the game won't run. It'll just ask you to put the original disk in the drive.

I have a few games from D2D.. I think the price they got is better than what ya can get in the store not to mention convinience of gettin' it over the net vs goin' to the store and buyin' it.
ya can download it as many times as ya need to and save yourselve the CD-in hastle! only problem this one is huuuge and will take 2 DvDs or a double layer DvD to burn onto :dizzy2:

My D2D game wont show internet games. I can log into the lobby but no games show up. There are probably other small discrepancies between the versions.

I'm not sure what you said about the patches is true, because I have NWN2 and the patches aren't different, but then again it has an autopatcher, so maybe its different than MTW2. But anywho, anyone know a way to resolve this issue? If not can you post the concern on .com because I can't, having login issues on that site.

did ya read the red text on top of m2tw page at d2d site? it says they aware of the issue and workin' on fixin' it with the patch.. it's right there before ya download the game.

I've never used d2d but it seems like an interesting way to buy games. I think the biggest problem with M2TW is its size. By my calcs it'd take 9 hours for me to download on a 3MB connection.
